Agreed. Yankee fans would also add Bucky Dent's homerun to beat the Red Sawks.pioneer98 wrote:Kirby Puckett in 1991 should be on the list as well. Whatever, it's an elite list.lambeausouth wrote:In the pantheon of great postseason homeruns, there have arguably been five that will stand the test of time.
1951. Bobby Thompson's "the Giants win the pennant". Playoff tiebreaker, "the Shot Heard Round the World".
1960. Bob Mazerowski. "It is over the fence, the Pirates win!" World Series.
1975. Carlton Fisk's "if it stays fair.....homerun!" World Series.
1988. Kirk Gibson's walk off homerun. "I don't believe what I just saw" World Series.
1993. Joe Carter. "Down the left field line. Way back, and gone!" World Series.
Tonight, David Freese joins this list.

Best game ever. I won't be able to talk tomorrow.

I think this is my favorite. I'd change my avatar but I've had Puma all season, can't change now.

Can't believe Freese got a 1-2 fastball away on the triple and a fastball away on the home run. Thank god the Rangers didn't spring for any scouts.

I have seen a LOT of baseball games in my life. I saw 40+ a year when it was my job. I did that for five years and I had a vested interest in the outcome. I have popped champagne in a locker room (indy league but whatever).
Nothing that I've seen compares to this.

I saw the Rams win the Super Bowl with an 80 yard touchdown pass and a tackle on the one-yard line on the final drive. I saw my Jayhawks come back down 9 with 2:12 left to win the national championship on a miracle three-pointer by Mario Chalmers. I saw the Blues come back down 5-0 to win 6-5. I saw Pujols save Busch Stadium, and a season, with his shot off Lidge.
That was the best game - in any sport - I have ever seen.

I saw the Packers barely sneak into the playoffs by the narrowest possible margin, only due to a once in a lifetime miraculous comeback by Philadelphia to help knock the Giants out, with one of their best players lost for the season to injury, and have to play underdog throughout the playoffs only to culminate with a World Championship.
This game was better than that, despite the similarities of the two seasons. Let's bring another one home tomorrow night.
