Depends on what you are looking for in a console. If it's just to play games, it's definitely pricey. If you buy into the "all in one media/entertainment box" angle, it's a lot easier to swallow.JackofDiamonds wrote:Quick thought though; considering everything that goes into a console now, are we really upset that a new xBox is cheaper than a 64gb iPad?

I wonder how well the TV stuff will work. For example, you'll still have to use a direct tv box. I read that the TV stuff is just a UI overlay.Felix The Cat wrote:Depends on what you are looking for in a console. If it's just to play games, it's definitely pricey. yeah that stuff too..no interest, nor any need for it...another "con" for me, personallyMichael wrote:I wonder how well the TV stuff will work. For example, you'll still have to use a direct tv box. quickly though - i do recommend "state of decay" for 360...kinda like gta with zombies..it does have some framerate issues and other graphical "things" but they are not game breaking or too terrible...fun game
ok, back to e3!

Re: The Video Game Thread
I was planning to buy both systems on launch, but nothing I saw today looked "must have". Now I'm thinking I'll get just one. Hopefully Sony hits a home run today.

Bold prediction: PS4 will be $399 as Sony tries to channel 1995.JackofDiamonds wrote:If the xBox is $500, the PS4 will be $600+ at launch. Sony always puts out the more expensive console. I'm really worried about the console business.
Hopefully the PS4 will be less expensive, but I doubt it.

My uncle bought me an Xbox 360 (the special Star Wars edition) in March 2012. Now I'm wondering if I picked the wrong time to buy an Xbox. $500? I'm curious if that is worth it. What exactly does the new one do that mine wouldn't?

Re: The Video Game Thread
We had a baby shower for Mrs. Wart on Friday night, one of my wifes nephews, who loves pressing buttons on electronics and apparently is never told not to, mashed the button on my Xbox about 15 times in about 5 seconds before I could stop him = red ring of death. Naturally the brother and sister-in-law won't offer to do anything about it. I guess I am out an xbox. No way I am spending 500 [expletive] bucks for the new xbox one. Maybe I will try Craigslist....

Well so the Xbox is $500 bucks. That's not horrible considering what you are getting and compared to other devices but I am still thinking I'm out. I just didn't see anything from Forza 5 I can't live with out so I'll wait a while. I'm sure I will get one down the road but not this year.

Sounds like Sony jumped on the pay-to-play-online bandwagon. PS+ mandatory for online multiplayer?
