I think his point was they (osu) had a qb that had limited experience. The thought was Jones would not be able to pass effectively against Alabama making them one dimensional and Bama would be able to contain the rush.

Obviously, neither happened. Jones was able to throw well eneough to keep them 2 dimensional and Alabama was never able to shut down the running game because of that. Or vice versa, Alabama was never able to contain the running game which really opened up the passing game. Either way, you get the point.

Still, the point remains, Alabama will big favorites. They still play the games, of course, and anything can happen. But, Alamaba is a clear favorite.

We've seen it before. I'm not sure why it would be shocking to see it again.
I'm late to the pissing match, but this isn't really accurate. Alabama will be close to double digit favorites over anyone this year because they are that much better. Two years ago Ohio State was absolutely loaded. The only reason they were big underdogs was because they were down to their third string QB that no one knew much about, Cardale Jones.

They were 9.5 favorites over Ohio State 2 years ago. Isn't that close to double digit favorites?
My point is that the reason for the two betting lines is completely different. Two years ago Ohio State had Ezekiel Elliott, Joey Bosa and a bunch of other badasses and they had the version of JT Barrett that scored 45 touchdowns compared to 33 this year. If Barrett was the QB heading into that game they would have been much smaller underdogs. Only the uncertainty around Jones and the public perception that OSU had lost a vital player made it close to double digits. This year's line would be based on OSU at full strength not being nearly as talented as Alabama.

I just have to point out the hypocrisy of the selection committee. Psu had a stronger strength of schedule than washington. Won the conference osu plays in, beat osu head to head, and has won 9bstraight in a conference that had 3 teams in the top 6, 4 in the top10. Lol lol they check every box ever mentioned.
