I wouldn't know.
Goold also thinks he's going to Cooperstown as an Angel.

Re: Former Cardinals Watch
I wanted him to be a lifetime Cardinal, the 21st century version of Stan. Statue and all.
But he left (thank god, looking back) and I just don’t care what he does or what letters are on his plaque. Would love to see him at Busch in a red jacket someday but no tears will be shed if he doesn’t. The memories of his great 11 years here will still be there. I won’t invest a lot of emotion in what happens or doesn’t happen going forward.

Deserves a statue for sure. This isn't Barry Bonds on the Pirates, this was 11 seasons. His best seasons.
Cardinals may never see a player like that in a long, long time.

Yeah but it will be one of the smaller ones in front of the team store. Not the Stan-sized one he could’ve had.Big Amoco Sign wrote:Deserves a statue for sure. This isn't Barry Bonds on the Pirates, this was 11 seasons. His best seasons.

And only if he's good with it. If not, find other ways to honor him and move on.Radbird wrote:Yeah but it will be one of the smaller ones in front of the team store. Musial needs a new statue.jagtrader wrote:Molina's getting the statue.
And Albert's should be the same size. The Musial statue is ugly and awful looking and has needed to go like yesterday.
Albert: generational talent and one of the greatest of all time. 11 years with Cardinals
Molina: decent catcher, great with pitchers, not the best at his position for half his career but still great: 16.5-17 years with Cardinals after he hangs 'em up. Top 15-20 catcher all time.
Albert's greatness in 11 years beats Molina's longevity. Sorry. And Molina's WAR is around McCann and Russell Martin. Statue worthy? I believe he's better than his WAR, no doubt, but how much better?
Darrell Porter has a higher fWAR than Molina FWIW (yes I know he wasn't a Cardinal forever). Musial also has a bridge. Give Albert a decent sized statue. At least he deserves one over by Smith/Dean/Buck/etc.

That contract is nothing but lol now. It was put in because money, but in case he broke the HR record.MrCrowesGarden wrote:Gonna be some broken hearts when Albert enters the hall as an Angel, then. Those personal services contracts can't be signed now, but Albert's is still enforced, unless he wants to give up $10 million.
I don't give a [expletive] what Goold or even Pujols himself says, he's going into the Hall, and it's going to be as a Cardinals.
