I bought a 360 at launch for $299 and I think there was a better one for $399. That was 8 years ago so $400 for the new one isn't bad. I probably won't buy one right away, but mostly because I don't game that much anymore.

Not only are there bugs/lemons to deal with at launch, but most of the early games suck. Usually takes awhile before developers adjust to the new specs, especially on sports games.

Luckily FIFA 15 likely won't come out until end of summer '14, so, I'll wait 6 months to by the nex XBOX. Hopefully everything's resolved by then.

For the PS3, the first generation consoles lasted for about 18 months, though there were a few hard drive iterations that came and went in that time, with some changes in backwards compatibility, but the chipset stayed the same.

I just bought the 3rd (and presumably last) generation, the "super slim", and it's been... 6 years? I thought it had been out longer than that.

So I just bought a Wii U for Monster Hunter. $300 console with a $50 gift card, 3 games for $120 since there was a B2G1 deal at Target. If I return the other two games, I can get $80 back which would leave me paying $290 (pre-tax) for the system and MonHun.

Hope there isn't a big price-cut in the near future to make me regret this purchase.

In other sad news I found out Torchlight 2 won't be on XBL. The first one was so awesome.
