that's actually in interesting question

the playing contract is still his if they DFA him, obviously...but i'm just guessing the $10 personal service contract would be too? would they or albert even care/want it if he's DFA'd by them?

i mean, obv anyone would want $10 million...but to have to hang around for 10 years with a team that DFA'd you?

no, not that i can find...i searched for it for awhile, but everything said there's nothing public about the exact contents.

we just know from the HOF rules, that it cannot contain anything in regards to the HOF and what cap to choose.

He's going to 100% inducted on the first ballot, and will as such still be an Angels employee when he's inducted. That's going to matter.

The Hall is free to choose whichever cap it wants to for his plaque, but it's going to be beyond bizarre to have a Cardinals plaque while he talks Angels this and that.

But what if he is DFA'd? Contract still in place then?

Dawson wanted to go in as Cub. Nope. It’ll be dumb if AP goes in as an Angel and you will be right.

why would it matter to the HOF (who chooses what team is on his cap), who albert is employed by? it doesn't...

former players retire and get jobs with front offices all of the time.

i agree though, that it will be bizarre when albert goes in as a cardinal, but can't come back here for a ceremony, get his red jacket, etc...don't know if the angels would be petty enough to stop him, but i'm sure they have every right with that personal service contract.

his playing contract, yes...they can't get out of that, if they DFA him.

the personal services contract? i have no idea about that...

it states in the articles i've read, that it kicks in when he "retires". if that's just writers throwing that in, assuming he finishes out the contract with the angels? i dunno...

Because of the optics of it. The Hall may have the say on what cap is on his plaque, but his contract with the Angels may dictate what's in his speech.

The optics of his (permanent?) plaque highlighting the worst part of his career wouldn't be good either. The speech may be awkward but nobody is going to remember it decades from now but the plaque will remain as long as the HoF exists.

He got his milestone hits with the Angels, and the speech will be catalogued too.

There's a chance he may get a blank cap, but I don't think there's one for the Cardinals.
