Pujols-Holliday-Rasmus. Have we gone back-to-back-to-back this year?

A long way to go in this game, Cardinals bats need to keep it up.

Phillips in middle of Cards, Reds brawl
By JOE KAY, AP Baseball Writer
CINCINNATI (AP)—Brandon Phillips was in the middle of a first-inning altercation between the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals.
The Reds second baseman had words with Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina when he came to the plate to lead off the bottom of the first inning Tuesday night. It escalated into a bench-clearing confrontation.
Reds third baseman Scott Rolen and Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter had to be pulled apart. Carpenter wound up pinned against the backstop screen. So was Reds starter Johnny Cueto, who kicked his way free.
Nobody was ejected over the seven-minute confrontation.
Phillips opened the series by saying he hated the Cardinals, whom he called complainers.

Peace lasts a half an ininng

The peace lasted a half inning.
Brandon Phillips and Cardinal catcher Yadier Molina exchanged words before Phillips got in the batters’ box to start the Reds’ first. Apparently, Phillips tried to do his ritual where he touches the ump and the catcher with his bat. Molina kicked at the bat.
Molina took off his mask and got right in Phillips’ face. Scott Rolen came out and got Molina away from Phillips. Benches and bullpen cleared.
Things calmed down.
But it erupted when Rolen went after Chris Carpenter. Several wrestling matches broke out. Johnny Cueto, the starting pitcher, could be seen kicking at someone.
Dusty Baker was in the middle of it, shouting at someone. A couple of players were in a pile on the ground. Jonny Gomes came out of it with a torn shirt.
It all lasted seven minutes.
Baker and Tony La Russa were ejected.
Phillips grounded out to start the inning. Paul Janish flied to right and Joey Votto struck out.
The crowd loved the whole thing. Molina was booed loudly when he came up in the second. The Cardinals fans in the house erupted when he hit a 3-2 pitch out to left for his fifth home run.
That made it 2-0. Cueto gave up unearned run in the first.

Significantly quieter with the boos. He's as feared as Pujols and Holliday.

We really need more runs. Garcia doesn't look like he's got his best stuff tonight.
