Their stout is very good, and I like most everything else of theirs I've tried.

It was almost all I drank in college. The grocery store by campus almost always had it on sale.

And if you think Beast is bad, then I wouldn't recommend Beast Ice. That stuff was horrible.

I went into the store the other day and saw Heineken on sale for $11 a 12 pack. I went to reach for it, and thought "Mmm, popeye always says this beer is bad and it's the beer that people that think they know beer drink and they just want to be seen drinking a "good" beer and ....". So I put it back. Then I thought another second and said to myself, "[expletive] popeye. He doesn't know [expletive] about beer".

I've actually gone through this little scenario twice, and both times I came to the same conclusion. Popeye is right. It's not very good. In fact, it's probably just bad.

Sorry popeye, I will doubt you no longer.

My neighbor only drinks Heineken - it's weird, and he actually got offended the other day when I talked about his weird allegiance to [expletive] beer.

I'm going over there right now and offered to bring a bunch of Newcastle and Schlafly that's sitting in my fridge and he said bring whatever for myself but he'd be sticking with the Heineken. Honestly there's something wrong with him.

I drank a lot of Oktoberfest tonight. It's ok I guess. Not as good as summer ale IMO.

Big fan of their IPA and I miss it since moving to NJ. The IPA (and others) at their bars are always outstanding.

Their IPA is decent, imo, and their Harvest Ale is perfectly nice seasonal beer. 312 is what it is. Some of their higher end beers are quite good, like the Matilda and the Sofie. They also do a Bourbon County Stout which packs a punch. Not sure how available those are outside of Chicago but they're worth a try if you see them.
Yeah I like Goose Island, but I feel like a badass city like Chicago deserves a better local brewery.
There is Half Acre now which is putting out some pretty good stuff, but yeah, there isn't really one kick ass microbrewery in the city that's making truly remarkable beers.

There is a relatively new Twin Cities brewery called Surly that's been brewing for a few years. Looks like it's served in many bars in Minn, and there is some availability in Sioux Falls and Chicago. I like their beers a lot and I always get it if it's on tap. SUPER HOPPY.

Pretty much sums it up. I think there is something funky about the malts they use in Honkers, 312 and other offerings. It leaves a taste of musty, stagnant water. I really dislike these beers.

But the Bourbon County Stout is exceptional.
