And I think it's foolish to think the fact that he hit 500 and 600 as well as 3,000 in an Angels uni won't matter at all. Of course the Cardinals homers count, but that's true of any player who played for multiple teams. His biggest milestones all happened in Angels uniforms. I think you're kidding yourself if that doesn't matter to the Hall.
not kidding myself at all, thank you....but i think you may be...

the HOF will ask pujols/take his opinion into consideration, (it's dumb to even think about, since i believe he'd want to go in/be remembered every time someone looked at his plaque 100 years from now, with him as a cardinal, so the point is probably moot), but the HOF aren't dummies...they can look up stats in the remote chance he says angels...

HRs...
STL - 445
LAA - 184

Hits...
STL - 2073
LAA - 1009

OPS...
STL - 1.037
LAA - .768

RAA...
STL - 659
LAA - -23 (negative 23)

WAR...
STL - 86.6
LAA - 13.3
(He's at 0.0 WAR since 2016)

The stats are so far apart between the teams, it's practically a joke. might as well say, well he left STL with 499 HRs and 2999 hits, but hit numbers 500 and 3000 with LAA, so they've got to be taken into consideration. No, no they don't...it's a joke how far apart they are/how great he was, to how awful he's been.

(obv an asterisk, that he's not done yet...but the counting stats aren't getting much larger in the coming years)

Gonna be some broken hearts when Albert enters the hall as an Angel, then. Those personal services contracts can't be signed now, but Albert's is still enforced, unless he wants to give up $10 million.

Yes, I'd be shocked if that didn't happen.
He has a ten year personal services contract with the angels after he retires. It likely means no ceremonial contract and an angels cap on the hall of fame.
can't happen anymore...
In 2001, the Hall of Fame decided to change the policy on cap logo selection, as a result of rumors that some teams were offering compensation, such as number retirement, money, or organizational jobs, in exchange for the cap designation.
the hall listens to player suggestions, but it's ultimately the HOF's call (not the players)
Baseball Hall of Fame President Jeff Idelson told ESPN in an 2009 interview that the hall tries to decide where the player "made his most indelible mark."

According to Idelson, the cap decision is made by the Hall of Fame's senior staff and research team. "They'll look at a player's career numbers and look at the impact, and quite honestly, it's usually a no-brainer," Idelson told ESPN. "Then we have a conversation with the player, because we wouldn't do something unilaterally."
pujols has (or will) hit cumulative/counting stat milestones as an angel, but ONLY because of his great first 11 seasons with the cardinals. every one of his MVP's, WS appearances, WS titles were all with the cardinals. his ROY was as a cardinal. his 6 silver slugger awards were all as a cardinal. his gold gloves were all as a cardinal. his batting championship was as a cardinal. his home run and RBI champion years were as a cardinal. his hank aaron awards were all as a cardinal. all of his all star game appearances were as a cardinal, except in 2015 (9 as a cardinal, 1 as an angel). he played (and will have played) longer as a cardinal.

0% chance he can go in as an angel
Agreed. He will go in as a Cardinal.

what does that have to do with anything? it kicks in as soon as he retires...

it doesn't prevent him from going into the HOF, or going into the HOF as a cardinal.

it only means he can't show up in cardinals gear for photographs/ceremonies; he wouldn’t be able to appear in any capacity that represents the cardinals; stuff like that for the 10 years of the personal services contract. it has nothing to do with the HOF and his cap.

in fact, it CAN'T have anything to do with the HOF and his cap...it's against the rules since 2001

If the Angels part ways with him, is the contract voided?

So we really think Pujols is gonna get a Cardinals plaque and then just sit there lauding his time with the Angels and wax poetic about them.

Ok.

He'll likely speak nicely of both teams. Baring a HOF rule change, Pujols is 100% going to the hall as a Cardinal.

not sure what you're trying to get at here...

the personal services contract, is $10 mil he gets to come around angels stadium, spring training, whatever...and sign autographs, take pics, etc.

for $10 mil, sound pretty sweet to me (not like he needs it, with his playing contracts; seems like a drop in the bucket to him, but whatever)

it has nothing to do with the HOF and what cap he wears...it cannot have anything to do with his cap.

his stats presented over the last couple pages show it'd be a joke to think the angels should even be considered for his cap selection...they will listen to albert's wishes, but it's ultimately up the the HOF committee.

i still think albert would say he would want to go in as a cardinal anyways, so it's a moot point...

what? you think he's going to say the angels because of a $10 mil personal services contract he has? (which again, is just a drop in the bucket to him)

that's laughable

Are the details of the 10 yr service contact even public?
