the hall listens to player suggestions, but it's ultimately the HOF's call (not the players)In 2001, the Hall of Fame decided to change the policy on cap logo selection, as a result of rumors that some teams were offering compensation, such as number retirement, money, or organizational jobs, in exchange for the cap designation.
pujols has (or will) hit cumulative/counting stat milestones as an angel, but ONLY because of his great first 11 seasons with the cardinals. every one of his MVP's, WS appearances, WS titles were all with the cardinals. his ROY was as a cardinal. his 6 silver slugger awards were all as a cardinal. his gold gloves were all as a cardinal. his batting championship was as a cardinal. his home run and RBI champion years were as a cardinal. his hank aaron awards were all as a cardinal. all of his all star game appearances were as a cardinal, except in 2015 (9 as a cardinal, 1 as an angel). he played (and will have played) longer as a cardinal.Baseball Hall of Fame President Jeff Idelson told ESPN in an 2009 interview that the hall tries to decide where the player "made his most indelible mark."
According to Idelson, the cap decision is made by the Hall of Fame's senior staff and research team. "They'll look at a player's career numbers and look at the impact, and quite honestly, it's usually a no-brainer," Idelson told ESPN. "Then we have a conversation with the player, because we wouldn't do something unilaterally."
0% chance he can go in as an angel

the players union thinks money is everything.Big Amoco Sign wrote:He and everyone related to him have more money than he will ever need. Some people don't think money is everything.
no way they'd let him walk away from that contract, when it's soooo heavily back-loaded. he'd only be getting, what 60ish %, of his contract if he walked away after this season?
won't happen
(he obv can walk away if he wants to, but the players union is very persuasive and protective of their interests, esp when it comes to one of the largest contracts ever signed)

You're discounting it way too easily.

this is what he's done...

tell me how he goes in as an angel? (an actual answer; not some flippant smart ass comment you usually make)

Re: Former Cardinals Watch
You must have me confused with someone else.
The Hall says it won't be unilateral, if he says he wants to go in an Angel, that is still going to matter. And I think it's foolish to think the fact that he hit 500 and 600 as well as 3,000 in an Angels uni won't matter at all. Of course the Cardinals homers count, but that's true of any player who played for multiple teams. His biggest milestones all happened in Angels uniforms. I think you're kidding yourself if that doesn't matter to the Hall.

Ken Griffey Jr. hit most of his milestones as a Red. It was still considered a foregone conclusion that he would make the Hall as a Mariner.MrCrowesGarden wrote:You must have me confused with someone else.

He will go as a Cardinal or blank hat. IMO.
