Yep, I went ahead and bought it. If anybody wants a CD Key for a free trial of the game, PM me.

I've run up against a wall in Star Wars the Old Republic, so I decided to take a breather and fire up Diablo III. I actually like playing games by myself, so the single-player aspect of D3 doesn't bother me. The always-connected to the internet aspect does have it's problems (when the servers are down, you're screwed), but I haven't encountered many server outages. The main problem I see is that the map in the upper right corner is so small compared to the actual area that I find myself wandering aimlessly trying to figure out where stuff is. At least when you get close to a story element the map shows a yellow circle in the general direction of where you are supposed to go. Now I get to a task of killing the Skeleton King, and his health is so much that I have no clue how to kill him by myself (I do have a NPC companion, but we keep getting killed together). So now it's get killed, run back from the last checkpoint, get killed again, etc. Until I figure out how to kill this thing, I'm up against a wall here too.

I've heard lots of complaints about Diablo III. I think mostly about the server thing but still that's not good. I assume EA is involved in it somehow? They always try to screw their customers over.

I'm almost to 60 now. My advice for anyone and all:

Don't spend a dime on the crafters. No matter what character class you are, just go to the auction house and buy whatever the highest DPS weapon you can afford. Repeat this every few levels and re-sell your old weapon. Item dps is more important than anything, anything, anything. Which is stupid, but that's how the game currently works.

Mac nerding out hardcore, reaching 60 within the first week of release.

Seriously tho, I had no intention on getting the game, but when I heard free trials were available I decided to take 1 from Mary, and it's been pretty damn fun ever since. I'm looking forward to getting off work today so I can go play some more. It's sweet to finally have a mainstream PC video game that's fun to play. I might be able to get some old friends who haven't played PC games since the days of Counter Strike to buy the game so we can relive the glory days of developing carpal tunnel at 4am while pounding down Mtn Dew.

Yep, I basically told all my coworkers and friends that I'd see them in August or so. I have today off, I'm quite hungover after our Christmas party last night (yeah, my bar had its Christmas party in May. Why not.), it's rainy, and I'm basically going to play Diablo until my fingers hurt.

I can't even beat the first major boss (the Skeleton King) at Level 9. The auction house option doesn't show up (it says it's closed). Someone want to give me a hand?

Thanks to cards2468 and his buddy for helping me out with the Skeleton King. We played a while after that and I kept asking "What do we do next?" like the noob that I am. Meanwhile, the Star Wars: The Old Republic forums are full of posts about how dead the servers are. They are already talking about making it possible for you to move your characters to different servers...this summer. My Empire guild has died, I'm the only person online anymore, and I am actively looking for a new guild (which at this time has to be on the same server). My Republic guild is still very active, I just made level 40 (out of 50) with my main character, so I am hoping to be able to take part in multiplayer stuff with them.

My buddy that was with us has Old Republic and he spent a bunch of money on the fancy edition, only to play it for about a week and then quit.

We'll probably be playing a lot of Diablo 3 in the future. Very enjoyable game.
