It's a shame there's an "NL MVP" in 2018 when the AL has 5 guys deserving over the Carpenter tier of players. Carpenter getting it while one of Betts/Trout not getting it feels weird.

Manny Ramirez finished 4th in NL MVP voting in 2008 when he had a 1.232 OPS in his time with LA, so it could happen some day.

That said, Machado hasn't had a great start in his time in LA. He's at a 115 OPS which isn't MVP levels. That said, his .9 bwar currently as a dodger would project to 3.3 wins. Not too far from the 3.5 wins Manny had. Then again, Ramirez only finished 4th.

It could depend on whether or not a Cardinals left-handed hitter sinks them in the playoffs again.

Sam Tuivailala suffered a serious-looking lower right leg injury during an appearance Wednesday against the Rangers.
Tuivailala tweaked something during a rundown in the sixth inning and couldn't put any weight on his leg as he was helped off the field by trainers, who appeared to be examining his right ankle or Achilles. The 25-year-old setup man was just acquired from the Cardinals on July 27 for pitching prospect Seth Elledge.

Sam Tuivailala has been diagnosed with a strained right Achilles tendon.
Tuivailala suffered the injury during a rundown in the sixth inning of Wednesday's game against the Rangers. It could very well be a season-ender for the 25-year-old reliever, who was picked up from the Cardinals four days before the July 31 trade deadline. He owns a 3.41 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 37 innings this year between Seattle and St. Louis.

Beginning to think Girsch isn't the GM but Mo's hit man.

He prefers to be called a 'persuasion engineer.'
