I don't think winning the world series would be any different then winning the WS during World War II when not all of the best players were competing. Let's be honest that's the only reason that the 1944 Browns won the AL pennant.

That makes sense. So will they just have an extra long event with next years inductees? Or do you think they'll do back-to-back days?

The only person with a chance for next year is Schilling who got 70% last year. Bonds and Clemens were at 60%. Nobody on the ballot for the first time has a chance. The top newcomers are Tim Hudson, Mark Buehrle and Torii Hunter. I have a feeling Hunter will get more votes than Edmonds did for some reason and it will really piss me off.

1981 with its 2 half seasons was about 100 games total. If a season like that can crown a champion when the team with the best overall record doesn’t even make the postseason, then I’m not going to quibble with whatever scheme they come up with this year.

Don't forget about the committee selection process. Someone(s) could get elected that way.

But Schilling better not get in.

And to address Joe's question, it will be a combined ceremony. Given there were only 4 inductees this year, and likely a small number next year, it wouldn't be that different than 2014 when there were 6 people inducted.

Completely agree.

Any baseball would make me happy. I don't care about any of the other stuff.

I don't care if Schilling makes it or not, but I totally want his sock in there.

If they play the entire season with a 3 division format how does the playoffs work? Just simply seed the teams by most wins regardless of their division? But say the 3 division winners would automatically get the top 3 seeds?
