Every Year is the Year of Star Trek

Most of Enterprise is pretty good. The online stigma is it gets good in S3 and S4 but there's just about as much good in S1 and S2. The idea that the series started getting better in quality was birthed online around S4 to really try and get trekkies back to keep the series from cancellation, and it's just stuck. It's really no better or worse than earlier seasons.

People were just fatigued with Star Trek at this point and ideas were running dry. They repeat some stories, but Enterprise does a real good job telling the most-refined versions of some classic Trek moral dilemmas. Dear Doctor and The Cogenitor are the two that come to mind the most. They've done these countless times but they're striking and poignant on Enterprise, hit every beat with precision, and its era helps lend to that as well.

Finished episode 1 of Enterprise yesterday and am definitely enjoying the premise of humans' first-ever starship mission into the cosmos.

If you're like me...you will struggle with some of the early episodes of Enterprise. But stick with it.

Edit to say that does not include the Enterprise Pilot; which I thought was very good.

The pilot was good. And while I appreciated the random "rub anti-protozoa oil on the hot Vulcan" scene, that was way too Cinemax for Trek.

Seriously? It would be such an out of place scene for TNG, DS9, or Voyager. The execs at CBS must have decided Enterprise needed more skin for ratings or something.

Seriously? It would be such an out of place scene for TNG, DS9, or Voyager. The execs at CBS must have decided Enterprise needed more skin for ratings or something.

It was supposed to be one of the flagship (pun intended) shows for the new UPN channel, so maybe that's why they sexed it up.

I liked episodes in the first season and I liked the show a lot starting in season 2. Season 1 is the year with the most stinkers in my opinion. Just at times felt a little sluggish. Kind of like only going Warp 5 in a Warp 9 universe.
