Rick regaining his mentality at the blue grass World Series is where the movie will start right?

Credit to MCG for posting the first Lance Lynn without-a-beard sighting. Here's another photo. Spoilered for size, but I'd also say it is a little bit of a disturbing sight for Cardinals fans who have only known Lance of the bearded variety.

He just had no interest in climbing the mound to show it.

Until Wednesday.

Evidently lobbied into a pitching appearance 13 years after he retired as a pitcher, Ankiel struck out the only batter he faced Wednesday night in a game in Louisville, Ky., and the Bluegrass World Series. Ankiel, now 39, also went two-for-four and had four RBIs' in his team's victory.

Ankiel is one of a handful of former big-leaguers who are playing for the Louisville Stars in the tournament against college players. For the same team, Jason Marquis is a starting pitcher, and Ankiel started in the lineup with Jayson Werth (center) and Johnny Damon (left). Hall of Famer Chipper Jones was the team's designated hitter. Ankiel hit fifth for the team right behind cleanup bro Nick Swisher.
The purpose of the Bluegrass World Series is to bring back a handful of retired players, pit them against college players, and "celebrate the game of baseball." The manager that put Ankiel into the game was Stars manager Johnny Bench.

Rick Ankiel told Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports on Thursday morning that he is "toying with" the idea of pitching professionally again.
"I have nothing to lose," he said. "I’m not afraid. I might as well try." Ankiel gave up pitching in 2005 after a very public battle with the yips before eventually returning to the majors as a power-hitting outfielder. He's only 39 years old and he struck out the only batter he faced Wednesday in the Bluegrass World Series, a tournament that pits former big-leaguers against college players. "My kids have never seen me play, never seen me pitch," Ankiel told Brown. "And I feel like I’m in a better place."

Have not seen a left handed curve like Ankiel's...ever. Kershaw is close, but still not as good.
