Even then, there are limits. We've gone as many as seven years and it was awful. Four is probably the max.
I had a seven year old barleywine once (at Flat Branch in Columbia, for those of you who know it), and it is easily one of the five best beers I've had in my life.
Mmm... Flat Branch. Haven't been there for probably 10 years, but I remember I absolutely loved their Oil Change Stout. They still have that?

Yep. It's one that's always available. They have fifteen or so taps and about half rotate.

I had my first legal beer there with lunch on my 21st birthday. And then my senior year of college, we'd hit it up once a month or so, always leaving with a growler. Lots of really awesome positive memories of Flat Branch.

Drinking a tasty 2nd Shift LSD- bourbon barrel dark goodness thing -@ Twin Oaks. Wings to go.

Goose Island bourbon barrel- seems like many others have caught them in this genre.

I thought the BCS this year was very very good, the best in a while. I went to a birthday party a couple weeks ago for a beer guy, and Goose donated a keg of 2014 BCS and a keg of this year's, and this year's blew the 2014 out of the water.

Off Color (they're local here but I think have a pretty good distribution footprint) released Dino S'mores recently. It's an Imperial Marshmallow stout. I usually hate adjunct beers, but this is a fun one. When they opened the brewery a baker made them s'mores shaped like dinosaurs, so now once or twice a year they release a beer based on s'mores. It's really delicious, 10.5% ABV, worth picking up even at $15/4 pack if you're into adjunct stouts.

I've done both the BCS this year, and one of the variants- the coffee. They were both great.

I also went to an Abraxas launch party and got to try all of those variants. The variants were fine, but it's tough to top the original.

Additionally got to try:

-Perennial Suburban Beverage... meh. Not my style, really.

-Cuvée #3, which was impressive and both subtle and complex

-Founder's Project Pam, a strange combo of barrel aged and hoppiness.

Last week, I was at Dogfish and they had just put out their [expletive] Brew. It's one of my Dogfish faves.

ETA it's not bad but also not as flavorful as the ESB.
I haven't liked their ESB for the last two or three years, which is especially disappointing, because it's my very favorite style. Two years ago (I think it was), it was like getting smacked in the mouth with a pine branch.
Urban Chestnut had some Finnish (?) style that was like sucking on pine bark.

Old Tjikko Spruce Ale is on tap now at Urban Chestnut Midtown.

The empire strikes again
http://fortune.com/2015/12/22/anheuser- ... ckenridge/ fortunately they havent bought a single beer I like. As mentioned before, my only concern is their control over distribution, taps, beer aisles.
