It would give them use of 5 different domes but splitting the teams up into either 3 separate leagues or require them to travel between one of the other regions.

As far as I know this is the only other "official" empty stadium game (insert jokes about teams that don't draw well here). I would also say there have been some extremely empty stadiums when a game resumed after a long rain delay. But this one was the only one where they wouldn't even let fans in if they wanted. Just to get a feel for what this might look like. But even this one had like two dozen people cheering outside the gate. Probably won't even have that.

The fans hanging outside of the stadium is probably a reason that holding the games away from their fanbases is wise.pioneer98 wrote: ↑April 22 20, 8:53 pmAs far as I know this is the only other "official" empty stadium game (insert jokes about teams that don't draw well here). .Major League Baseball officials have become cautiously optimistic this week that the season will start in late June, and no later than July 2, playing at least 100 regular-season games, according to three executives with knowledge of the talks. They requested anonymity because the plan is still under consideration
...
MLB is considering a three-division, 10-team plan in which teams play only within their division – a concept gaining support among owners and executives. It would abolish the traditional American and National Leagues, and realign the divisions based on geography
EAST
New York Yankees and Mets, Boston Red Sox, Washington Nationals, Baltimore Orioles, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Rays, Miami Marlins
WEST
Los Angeles Dodgers and Angels, San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies, Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, Seattle Mariners
CENTRAL
Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Royals, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins, Atlanta Braves, Detroit Tigers

Would the East division automatically play in Florida, Central in Texas and West in Arizona or is that type of thing not matter? Since it would be odd for the Rangers and Astros to play in Arizona when playing in Texas was an option.

This proposal is the teams playing in their own ballparks at a reduced schedule

Not gonna lie, any sport right now of any kind would be a breath of fresh air. Not just for the entertainment value but it sure seems like it would be a big boost to morale. Like a big middle finger to the virus and a return to normalcy of some sort that I think a lot of us probably crave. No better league to do it than MLB, imo.
Ahhh, can you just imagine a Friday with the Cardinals Cubs at 3 pm, Yankees Red Sox at 6 pm, then Dodgers Giants at 9 pm. To channel Shannon "eh huh yeah, that and a couple ice cold beers mmmmmmm mmmmmmmm mmmmmmmm mmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmm"

Popping in over here to say I miss baseball deeply but I prefer that they just skip the season instead of playing some bastardized version of it. (normally I'm not a traditionalist) Would hate to be the World Series winner during COVID-shortened season. "yeah we won 54 games! woo!" It all seems silly. But having baseball is better than not I guess... can it just be exhibition to keep the players' skills sharp? Boy next offseason is going to be a ride.

If it can be done safely, it would be something truly memorable (for better and for worse). At best, people would look back on the season as a kind of unique outlier. At worst, it would be looked at like a unique outlier bastardization of thegame, like the record breaking steroid seasons. But it would be something, and I feel like we need something now.
