ricked stabbed and killed shane at the end of it.
Okay, that might be worth watching.

One problem I've always had with the Walking Dead is in trying to understand what the transmission mechanism for the disease is. The characters are constantly covered in zombie blood and guts and they often have open wounds. I would think that disgusting clothing and bloody sores are a recipe for zombiedom, but I guess not. Is it the saliva?

Now it seems that you don't even have to get bit to become a zombie, just dead. I thought they did a fantastic job of explaining "what" the zombie is when they showed the x-ray at the CDC. How the brain stem is still alive but all of the cognitive abilities are gone. They need to do a better job of explaining "how" one becomes a zombie.

it appears that everyone is infected however the zombieness doesn't take over until you die (however that may be). like with shane. rick stabbed him and immediately he became one (though it apparently varies from person to person as far as how quickly they turn). i think whatever it was that dr. jenner whispered to rick in the season 1 finale is gonna be revealed in the season 2 finale.

That makes a lot of sense.

Carl and Lori are so annoying.

And I guess it was appropriate that the most negative person and the most positive person wrt humanity die within 2 episodes o each other.

This Catherine Tate lady is unbearable. The Office was at least watchable recently, but she's single-handedly wrecking it.

And then Carl shot Shane when he somehow came back from the dead. And that was after thinking about killing his own dad. It redeemed itself... although most of the conflict seems to have died. Literally.

I'm not clear on that. It seemed as if he was thinking about shooting Rick, but I wonder if he just didn't see Shane get up before we did. And perhaps it was poorly staged, like a famous scene in Breaking Bad that caused similar confusion.

I thought he was going to shoot him, but there seems to be some debate about it - here's a whole thread on it:

It would have been a perfect scene if Carl had said something like "Dad, move!"
