Re: Random musings
Well, it was a bit 'easier' for me to keep under control since I don't know who this guy actually is. I only know his name is Mike and I've heard his voice on the horrible messages he left her. That's it. She doesn't want me to know who he is because she doesn't want me to do anything that would get him pissed at me and leave a target on my back or land me in jail. I was literally shaking from time time I found out Saturday morning until some time Monday. I still want to murder the guy but I have calmed down to the point where I'm at least not physically shaking any time I think about it which was non-stop for the first few days. She still insisted on cooking me dinner Saturday night even though I tried to get her to let me cook for her and the entire time I just kept looking at her and wondering how anybody could even consider doing what he did to her... and wanting to kill him.
It is probably a good thing that I have no idea who he is other than a first name because I might have done something dumb. I'm not a violent person. I've never even been in a real fight. I'm not sure things would work out well for me if I went after him. I am pretty much the complete opposite of being a tough guy. I won't even try and act like I would have any idea what to do after the first sucker punch. I would hope that once the adrenaline kicked in that I'd be able to hold my own but there are no guarantees.

No. That would be a man who hits women. Keep your head up, man. Horrible situation. I feel for you and your girl.tlombard wrote: I am pretty much the complete opposite of being a tough guy.

Re: Random musings
Thanks all. I don't know how she's keeping it together like she is. I'm a lot better now and we're just moving forward but she probably even handled it better than I did even initially. When she called me that morning I'm sure she was still in shock but she was just telling me everything that he did and said like it wasn't anything. I mean, she was obviously upset and scared but there were no tears or anything really emotional. I guess that was a combination of being in shock still and just the fact that it wasn't the first time. It just made me even madder that he's done that enough to the point where she's almost desensitized to it all as if it is just a fact of life. She's only 27 and been dealing with this garbage for way too much of her life. She was even sexually abused as a child. She's lived way too tough of a life.thrill wrote:No. That would be a man who hits women. Keep your head up, man. Horrible situation. After everything that happened this weekend and seeing how she'd kind of retreated into a shell after Saturday along with a couple of previous conversations we've had, I even floated the idea that maybe it would be better if I just backed off and concentrated on being a friend because she really needs friends right now probably more than anything and she doesn't really have many after leaving the ex. Sides had to be chosen and nobody believed that he would do what he'd done to her and she was labeled a lying female dog by all but a few.
She's already been struggling to open up and trust me because she's terrified of being hurt both physically and emotionally after her last two relationships so I don't want to add even more complications to things and offered to back off until she's ready (if that's the right term). The last thing she needs right now along with worrying about everything else is to have the added stress of worrying about me and my feelings. It took me a couple of days to finally bring it up because I was afraid she'd agree that was a good idea but if that was what's best for her right now then that's what I'd do. Thankfully for me she said that is the last thing she wants.

Of course it is expensive because I would probably try to live off of the stuff if it wasn't. Can't go on a road trip without beef jerky and I end up spending more on jerky than I do on gas half the time.Freed Roger wrote:I was about to muse this again.Freed Roger wrote:Damn beef jerky is expensive. I respect her wishes, but I would probably mention to her that, even at this point, she should call the police and make a report and request that charges get filed against him. Make sure she preserves all of that evidence - pictures of bruises, voicemails, etc. This guy needs to see the inside of a jail cell. It's probably also a good idea for her to start carrying mace in case he shows up again.tlombard wrote:Thanks all. I don't know how she's keeping it together like she is. There's also the, "he's probably going to do this to other women" angle.
