Maybe then the bowl selectors might realize they left out the number six team in the BCS, which beat two teams in BCS bowl games, won its division, and was at one time ranked number one in the nation (regardless of how they got there, it happened).
Or, you could root for Kansas and Illinois. That way, you could say "hey, Mizzou beat both of those teams."

I don't see what USC killing Illinois does. They were not chosen over Mizzou. Kansas was chosen over Mizzou. And if they get blown out, all it does is make Mizzou look WEAKER.

I understand the frustration, and am sorry this happened. Hopefully as time passes you will accept that the Cotton Bowl is a Jan 1 bowl also and appreciate it.

I don't mind the Illini making it to the Rose Bowl one bit. It's a little annoying that they're in a BCS bowl and Mizzou isn't but, meh, that's what happens when the Rose Bowl touches themselves inappropriately at the prospect of a Big Ten v. Pac Ten matchup. It's nothing new, nothing shocking, or anything else. Besides, the Illinois rivalry is mostly a friendly one.

But KU getting selected? That's one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. Completely ridiculous. If it had been KU against OU in the Fiesta Bowl, maybe- MAYBE- that would've been justifiable. But for the ORANGE to select them instead of Mizzou is completely ridiculous.

Being relegated to a non-BCS bowl after putting together a BCS-worthy season will not garner much appreciation from me. Granted, this is a huge improvement over the expectations I had for Missouri at the beginning of the season, but that doesn't mean much at this point.

I feel no animosity towards the Illini. If they win, more power to them. I wasn't expecting the Rose Bowl to pick a Big XII team, and after Ohio State was chosen for the national championship game, it was almost a given that Illinois would fill the slot. Kansas, on the other hand, will not be receiving my support in the least. We beat them convincingly last week, they haven't beaten any notable teams, and they somehow benefitted from losing to Missouri. They are in no way deserving of their bowl selection, especially in comparison to Mizzou.

Heres to hoping that Mizzou whips Arkansas. Badly.

That is really the only thing that will make the BCS bowls say "woah, maybe we missed the boat here."

And it won't matter anyway.

How about an Illinois / Mizzou NT game next year? Now that would be something.

a) The Fiesta wouldn't want an all big 12 matchup...so KU couldn't go there
b) I don't have any problem with the Rose Bowl wanting to stick to tradition (and I wanted Mizzou to go to a BCS bowl just as much as anyone)...after all....it's the most recognizable bowl game in the history of CFB and "the grand-daddy of em all"
c) Could the Big 12 have had 3 teams in the BCS games? Is there any rule stating that only 2 teams from one conf. can go to BCS games? One as a champ of the conf. and one as an at-large? I don't ever remember a conference getting 2 at large teams into the BCS bowl games...I could be wrong though...and if that's the case, then I can certainly see the argument behind Mizzou getting left out over Kansas, but at the same time Mizzou has one more loss, and a very recently loss at that, which is going to hurt them in the standings and the polls because it's fresh in everyone's mind..

Ok thanks..

Then I can understand the frustration of Mizzou fans who say "well we just beat Kansas two weeks ago" but the bottom line is that with 2 losses and a loss in the last week of the year as compared to Kansas' one loss and being highly ranked, it's easy to see why Kansas was taken over Mizzou..at least in my opinion

Well, too bad Notre Dame missed out this year.
Do you really believe that if the situation was reversed (OU in the title having won the Big 12) the Fiesta bowl would just say "Sorry Big 12, we'd rather see Illinois than Mizzou since the Illini are ranked higher."?

If you can honestly say they would, well you lose all credibility.

No, the Fiesta Bowl isn't nearly as insane as the Rose Bowl. It doesn't have it's own separate TV contract, it is not technically not part of the BCS, and is not married to the commissioners of it's auto-bid conferences because of it's anti-playoff stance. The Fiesta Bowl hasn't taken a Big 12 team 3 times out of the last 6 games, not even including the NC game it hosted. To reiterate, no, the Fiesta Bowl would not do the same thing as the Rose Bowl did. It's not a lack of credibility that leads to this conclusion, just common sense.
