It's not their fault they are buying all the crappy food. They are victims on an industrial marketing machine that lives in unholy concert with a corporate health care complex and a conglomerate of sweetener manufacturers that secretly controls our arable lands.

I know you are being facetious since it's easier to hold poor dumb schmucks accountable than it is an economic system that has driven us to this.Hungary Jack wrote:It's not their fault they are buying all the crappy food. Otoh, it makes me sick to see people fill their baskets with that crap.

Corn sweetener producers are destroying this country with their poisonous products that fool the endocrine system and fatten the wallets of the publicly subsidized corporate farming megacorp.IMADreamer wrote:So to summarize, it's corn sugars fault?Hungary Jack wrote:It's not their fault they are buying all the crappy food. Our economic system has driven us to cheesy crackers and marshmallow fluff. That's all I can find on the shelves nowadays. One day I got lucky and found some Snickers, which I used to fuel my ascent of Torreys Peak by the absurdly dangerous Kelso Ridge. But there weren't any signs on the trail telling me I might fall from the ridge and kill myself. So now I am going to sue our federal landowners for not warning me that I might do something to hurt myself.

"We've made the unhealthy choice the rational choice," said Merrick Weaver, who, as executive director of Partnership for Healthy Communities, works to improve nutrition among lower-income families in Commerce City.
In short, "You can buy more calories for your dollar if you buy bad foods," Weaver said.
A chorus of critics say that is no accident but rather the result of long-standing government policies.
