Re: The Video Game Thread
I finally won my first game of Madden '11 on All-Madden difficulty. It's insane. You generally have to tackle the CPU's ballcarrier 3-4 times before you actually bring him down, blitz almost every single play to stop the runner. You can only stop a drive 20% of the time, the rest of it they score a TD. If they get a catch downfield their WR breaks the cornerbacks tackle and its up to the safety to save the play. You cannot run the ball north/south on offense no matter who is your back. The CPU's defensive line sheds the blocks almost instantly. I pretty much just do shotgun and take a 10 step drop and toss the ball to who ever is partially open.

Nope. I went online though to look for difficulty sliders that would make the game challenging but still try and mimic actual football stats over the course of a season and allow me to still run the ball. I found some that were lauded for their accuracy. Punched them into the game, played against the Steelers and Bradford threw for an NFL record 12 TD's in a game. Ughhhhhhhhhhh. Back to the drawing board.Jocephus wrote:i hope hyou got a trophy /achievement
I did break an 80 yard run though that got me an achievement and tackled a ball carrier on one of the Blitz's before the QB could hand off which also scored another one.

Anybody looking forward to Rocksmith by Ubisoft?
The whole genre of music video games has kind of ran its course, but this Rocksmith looks pretty sweet for anybody looking to learn the guitar. You don't have to buy some overly expensive plastic POS guitar to hook up to the system, any guitar you have that can receive a 1/4" cable will work. They're making it for PC, 360 and PS3.

got "duke nukem forever" and "alice: madness returns" today.
had to get the duke. alice looks like a fun trippy game, plus it comes with a free download of "american mcgee's alice". 2 games in 1.

Dungeon Siege 3 is really fun. Definitely has been console-ified, making controls kind of iffy, but the plot is engaging, and so far I'm enjoying the combat. Just beat an infuriatingly lame boss that took about 15 retries. Some gamers like that sort of challenge. Screw that.

All three of those above mentioned games are in my GameFly queue, but I don't think I'll be getting them for quite a while.

For any of the Nintendo DS/3DS portable fans: you owe it to yourself to look into 999: Nine hours, Nine persons, Nine doors. One of the better-written stories I've ever played in an adventure game, period. And I've played more than quite a few.
