The Cardinals have a mediocre bullpen in terms of talent. It’s surprising this doesn’t happen more often. You can only dance through the raindrops so many times.
Especially when Oli doesn’t know how to use them properly
He’s one of the best in the game. I really don’t know what you people expect. It’s a [expletive] miracle this team has a winning record.

Can’t imagine any other manager allowing a reliever to:
1. Give up game tying homer in 7th.
2. Give up game tying homer in 8th.
3. Give up go ahead homer in 8th.
Unprecedented stuff from someone who just isn’t qualified to do his job.

He’s been great with the lineup, and seems to have the support of the players
But he’s awful with the bullpen…stanek has shown all year that he cannot be in a game with a close lead, but that’s when Oli uses him….he ONLY needs to be the guy to bring in when you’re being blown out if you’re blowing out the opponent

I don't like to pick on Oli as much as others but tonight there were several head scratchers.
Leahy didn't look great after sitting through the rain delay; then he sent him out there to face Buxton and the top of the order for the third time. Cardinals lose the lead.
Cardinals regain the lead. Graceffo is on the mound; yes he walked Buxton but that's better than giving up a hit to him. Oli brings in Stanek to face the LH hitter; so removes one RH for another RH and he promptly surrenders a homer to give up the lead.
Cardinals come back and get the lead; Oli leaves Stanek out there who gives up the lead on another homer; than the winning run on another homer.
You bring Soriano into the game in the 6th; you should leave him in for the 7th. Stank probably would have had a clean 8th to start with and who knows what happens there. Just weird choices.
And yes players have to execute but when they don't the manager needs to make moves.

Is there a manager that doesn’t do dumb [expletive] with bullpens? I’ve yet to see it. Not excusing this particular move, but still.

Prior to tonight, Soriano threw 8 pitches in last 4 days.
Really wish we could see what this team could do with a real manager. Just a shame.

Guys, Stanek sucks. Graceffo is bad. Roycroft, Svanson and Bruihl should be in the minors. There are three above-average arms in the bullpen and one of them wasn’t available. And the starter tonight is really a reliever.

Carlos Beltran never lost a game as manager.
