Alabama best the number 9 tram by what 46 points, the number 18 team by 18 and the number 21 team by 10. If you allow thst they are deep enough and big enough that they're doing physical damage to the teams they play, they have best some of the top teams at the time. If you don't allow for that, they're resume is still better than tosu's simply because they didn't lose to a team like penn state.
They haven't lost to a team like Penn State, only because they haven't played a team as good as Penn State.

Western Michigan is 12-0. Do you think they have a better resume than Ohio State, too?

Alabama only beat Ole Miss by 5, and Ole Miss is 5-7. Ole Miss actually had more yards in that game. It took 2 defensive touchdowns and a special teams touchdown for Alabama to win that game.

Ohio State has played 4 different teams currently ranked in the top 10. Alabama has played 1 team currently ranked in the top 10 (#10 USC, and the USC team that Alabama played wasn't nearly as good as the current USC team).

I don't know if OSU is better than Alabama. They've definitely got a better resume, though.

Because they've only lost 2 games.

Are there any other 2-loss teams that have a better resume than Penn State? I honestly don't know. There are only 4 (legitimate) teams with zero or one loss. After that, you've got a bunch of 2-loss teams, and I suspect that Penn State (a 2-loss team) is as deserving as any of the others of being in the top 10.

LOL the Ole Miss game. I watched that game... it never felt like Bama was going to lose.

there's no doubt that ole miss has bama's number but as mentioned bama's defense is unreal and when the offense isnt winning games, their defense is.

i think think ohio state is probably the only team that compete with bama, but a defense as good as bama's shuts down ohio st.

i can't believe this is even an argument really. bama is hands down the best team in the nation and i dont think it's even close.

They didn't shut down Ole Miss. They didn't shut down Arkansas.

I'm pretty sure we had a similar conversation in 2014-15, when nobody thought that Ohio State would beat Alabama (OSU was 9.5 point underdogs, and 42 of 43 ESPN analysts picked Alabama).

They waxed Iowa, who is currently #22 in the AP poll. I suppose you could ask similar questions of all of the other 2-loss teams, though.

I mostly agree with you, though. I'm not that big on Penn State.

Penn State's case hinges on beating Wisconsin. But if they do, they have a case IMO

Bama had 1 loss in 2014 going into thr playoff. I don't remember people being this high on them back then but I could be wrong.

They were 9.5 point favorites against Ohio State. Literally, 42 of 43 ESPN analysts picked Alabama to beat Ohio State.
