I think a big reason a lot of people have slimmer and shorter shinguards is that it impacts their touch to have anything bulkier. I was a lead-footed keeper though, so I'm not sure.
As for goalkeeping, it definitely requires you to suspend your fears. The trick is to either hold your ground or go after the person hard. If you time it right, you either have time to react, or you've snuffed it out before the 70 mph shot comes your way. Doing the latter successfully is a pretty awesome feeling.

WC Goal scoring is trending down. Is this the neutral zone trap era equivalent? I wonder if FIFA is considering rule changes to open things up more.

Yeah it's part style, part altitude/ball, part parity and part fluke.lukethedrifter wrote:WC Goal scoring is trending down. Is this the neutral zone trap era equivalent? I wonder if FIFA is considering rule changes to open things up more.

I can't decide if I want the Donovan or Davies jersey - That cheap jersey site I always talk about.

Ya know what sucked? Going for a 50/50 ball right around the 18 and not being able to see the keeper, knowing damn well he can see everything and is running full speed right at you. That's the keepers domain and he's gonna get a chance to drop the hammer. It was just a matter of having your legs ripped out or getting dropped by a shoulder, maybe an elbow to the chest or head. That's the only thing I ever envied about the position.Transmogrified Tiger wrote:

Are you going for the shorts, too?JackofDiamonds wrote:I can't decide if I want the Donovan or Davies jersey - That cheap jersey site I always talk about.
The thought of someone buying a full kit made me laugh.

Unfortunately, it appears they come with the jersey. You couldn't catch me wearing the full kit.TabascoElvis wrote:Are you going for the shorts, too?JackofDiamonds wrote:I can't decide if I want the Donovan or Davies jersey - That cheap jersey site I always talk about.

Did they get rid of indirect kicks at some point?

One way to handle a poor performance, I suppose.
LINKNigeria's president has suspended his nation's football team from international competition for two years after a poor showing at the World Cup.
Special presidential adviser Ima Niboro told reporters the decision by Goodluck Jonathan [awesome name btw] will "enable Nigeria to reorganise its football".
The Nigerian Football Federation is to be dissolved and an interim board appointed, the BBC understands.

I don't even want to know what will happen to the North Koreans.
