My wife's uncles cancer is back. He's beat it three times so far and seems upbeat. Won't know how advanced it is till next month. He gets checked very often because of his history so hopefully they fought it early.

My dad lost his battle with blood cancer yesterday. He lived WAY beyond the median. At one point the oncologist said to him, "I don't know how you do it man". He was lucky though as he was working and living interdependently up until about 10 days ago. One thing I will say about the experience is as the end draws near you really do realize that death truly does bring peace and comfort to those with a terminal illness. At one point they simply stop breathing.

Now who am I going to call to complain when Matheny does something stupid? I guess that will fall on you guys...

Thanks, guys. There is no doubt in my mind that being there when he died helps. My good friend lost his dad a few years ago and he said be there when he dies if you can. Now I know why he said that. I hope none of you have to go through it, but if you do make sure your are there. Hard to explain, but it helps.
