I'm going to Cedar point and Vegas this summer. Both trips are ungodly expensive but I don't care.

It was! Even the storm that blew through was short lived, and really impressive! It was a great week.

So we're going to kuai, HI in about a month. After the past year, decided to cash in a shload of credit card points. Booked the tickets back when covid was still raging on the hopes that the vaccines would work (they did!). And thankfully booked a rental car real early in the game. There are no more rental cars in Hawaii. At all. There's a secondary market where people are renting their rental cars for like $200 a day. The rental car companies sold off their fleets during Covid, and now can't buy enough cars because of a chip shortage.

Anyway, pent up demand is real, and it's crazy. And I'm still worried about traveling because our kids are too young to get vaccinated, but we're doing it anyway.
Sounds awesome.

Good move getting tickets early. I wonder how much that added to the boon we're seeing now? Back in December we booked July flights to Exuma which were about 1/3 of their typical costs. Seems like a lot of people took advantage of that.

hotwire rental car reservation failure was fully refunded. Got 100 per ticket from Southwest for last second change to itinerary (travel bucks). but both these took some work to get anything. Probably 2 hrs of communicating.

prep for full planes, if going that way.

When we didn't have a rental car for 1st couple days, it was actually for the better. Granted , in SF area so lots of Uber and walkable options. Uber etc may be cheaper than rental cars -though granted if you have more than 3 and need booster seats for kids its not gonna happen easily.

We have opted for a shorter vacation than originally planned but our Summer filled up fast. We basically had two long weekends in June, we have two more in July, and then we are taking ten days to go to the Ozarks and Hot Springs Arkansas. Then we have a couple more long weekends in August. We definitely did not plan to travel this much this year but things have been busy.

Looks like you guys had a great time Geddy.

Sounds like everybody is going to have some fun this summer. I am driving to Florida with my family (help me!!!) in July. Looking forward to a week on the beach in a condo.

The new rules, which went into effect on Monday, allow fully vaccinated tourists from the United States to skip pre-arrival testing by presenting their white Centers for Disease Control and Prevention vaccination card, the ministry noted. The requirements comply with Italy's "Green certificate."

Unvaccinated travelers are still welcome but are required to show proof they contracted COVID-19 and recovered or show proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR or rapid antigen test taken within 48 hours of their departure.
Need to get busy with getting last year’s trip rescheduled.
