Again, what is the downside? I think some of us are having trouble understanding your beef.
The downside is clogging up the roster with a bad player.

That's not really a downside, unless he's taking a roster spot from a better player.

Right. The Cardinals have messed this up before, and it should always be something they are thinking about, but in this specific instance it's not an issue.

Beltran and Holliday will both be free agents again this offseason will they get another 1 year contract offer?

I know that because Patrick Wisdom sucks.
The downside is, as MCG said, wasting a roster spot if they could use a better player.

I have yet to hear who the better player is........ that's the point.

Wisdom has good stats in the minors not sure how you've determined that he's going to suck at the majors. Batting average needs to improve but his power stats are good.

Maybe if you read my post you would see I said it could wind up being a nothing, meaningless move. Regardless, Wisdom sucks and I don't see their reasons for putting him on the 40-man as valid. He's [expletive].

26 years old with 2600 PA of .238 .307 .421 .728 and a sub .700 OPS in 3 of the last 4 years isn't what I would call good stats.

Unless there's someone else that should be there instead of him, it's definitely a nothing.
I'm not saying there isn't. I just don't know who it would be. You've got 40 spots, there's really no reason at all to not use them all.
