and the infractions are at least 3 years old right? that seems like a raw deal for the players

Best to impose a 1 year ban when you won't make the tourney.

Yeah, I guess so. Just sucks because the season is now over, and even though Cuse would be underdogs against 4 top 10 teams, those games still had a lot of meaning. Not anymore.
And being excluded from the ACC tourney hurts as well. There's always that chance a team can get hot for 4 days and make the tourney anyway.
Baseball season cannot get here soon enough.
