I would not doubt it. Every now and then, we get a small whiff of it here, though the locale is subject to change. Too much hassle for me when I can do leisurely breakfast at home. Weekday breakfast out (or occasional Saturday) can be great - feels good like playing hooky.33anda3rd wrote:It's every big city -ish.Freed Roger wrote:I like going out for breakfast, whether it's called brunch or not - but the stuff you describe sounds awful

I don't like brunch either, but I want to know just how small the group of acceptable restaurant patrons is in 33's world. Must be narrowed down to about 137 people.

I loved their brunch too.docellis wrote:Casa Gallardo used to have a Mexican brunch on Sundays and I loved that. One of my favorite things to make for breakfast is nachos (or tacos) with steak, refried beans, scrambled eggs, , that habanero pepper cheese, sliced jalapenos and pico - topped with red cabbage and diced avocados.
I love mexican food and breakfast together.

Re: Brunch
Let's do some math on a $13 Denver Omelette with a side of potatoes and toast.TimeForGuinness wrote:Brunch is just overpriced breakfast...
3 eggs @ 15c each = $0.45
A bit of oil = $0.01
1/4 of a green pepper = $0.15
1/10 of an onion = $0.10
A handful of diced ham = $0.80
Some potatoes on the side = $0.60
2 pieces of toasted bread = $0.20
$2.33 in food cost.
$13 on the bill.
You should steal all the butter and jelly on the table to make up for the fleece job you're getting at brunch. That or just cook breakfast at home and save the $13 for a nice dinner some time.
You can eliminate all the a-holes--the Yelpers who tell you they're Yelpers, the noisy brunch mouth-breathers happily paying an almost 6X markup on breakfast food because WE'RE DRINKING IN THE MORNING YOU GUYS, the beer snobs, the people who don't like anything on the menu, the faux-allergic dietary restrictionists, the people who wear baseball caps indoors, etc.--and the population of good people who like to dine out is still so enormous.stlouie_lipp wrote:I don't like brunch either, but I want to know just how small the group of acceptable restaurant patrons is in 33's world. Re: Brunch
Mexican food is the best for breakfast. Like I said I've just gone straight to eating tacos for breakfast, I just skip the eggs altogether. Some carne asada tacos with onion and cilantro and salsa with coffee is delicious. Beans and rice of course. You wouldn't think coffee goes well with tacos, but it does.
And, Mexican restaurants don't care if you wear a ball cap inside. So I'm good there.

Re: Brunch
As a restaurant owner, it must be terrible having people pay a 6x markup on food while drinking and having a good time.

It hovers super close to losing money b/c of OT in the kitchen. We walk a tight line. If we don't have a lot of people come in we lose money. The partnership vote for doing it was 2-1. I lost.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:As a restaurant owner, it must be terrible having people pay a 6x markup on food while drinking and having a good time.

Breakfast food should be eaten at any and all times, so I wholly support Brunch.
