What's the proper term for taking a [expletive] in a jack-o'lantern? Dumpkin? Poopkin? Pumpkin pie?

All of those are great. Maybe "Black Jack," "Jack Splat," maybe "Jack of Spades." A long, hard b.m. in a jack-o-lantern could be called a "lumberjack." "Reese's Feces," based on color. A person who takes a dump in a jack-o-lantern could be called "Jack the Ripper."

Why can't I pay a couple bucks a month to the USPS to just throw away any junkmail that does not have my name on it? The USPS needs money. I don't need all that junk in my mailbox. I'm sure quite a few people would be with me. Heck, I'd pay $25/year to not get all that crap. 40,000 other people in the country join me and that is an extra $1M. I'm sure they could get more than 40k on board.

Our mailman was whining last week and threatening to not deliver mail to our building because a couple of the guys don't clean out the junkmail quickly enough for him (one is always out of town and it fills up fast).

I get one important thing a month in the mail. The rest is just garbage (especially the weekly ads) that I just have to carry upstairs and then eventually out to the recycling dumpster behind the building. The part that really annoys me is that I have to dig through every nook and cranny of those ads because other things will end up in there. Back in May my mom was upset (I guess) that I never thanked her for the birthday card so one day she finally asked me about it and I had never received it. I probably missed it stuck between Burger King coupons and a full page ad for hearing aids. Why can't the USPS just recycle that junk right there at the main post office before it clogs my mailbox and eats stuff that is actually important? They have scanners that can pick up on a name at an old address to forward to the new address automatically. Why can't they set up a 'forwarding address' for anything marked 'resident' or 'neighbor' that goes straight to the recycling bin?

It would be a win/win for the USPS. They get the money from the jerkfaces sending me junk and they get money from me to save the effort of delivering it.

The only real good revenue stream that the USPS has left is bulk mailers. If they took money not to deliver the bulk mail the bulk mailers would have to quick using the US Mail. The USPS would lose even more money. The bulk mailers would not use the US Mail if they didn't make money.

The area where the USPS loses the most money is having to deliver to every residence in the country. That is why they have proposed cutting Saturday delivery. No other delivery service (UPS, FedEx, etc.) delivers to every residence in the country. There will be a time when the USPS will no longer be able to delivery to every rural postal route in the country and they will stop. Those people who live on those rural postal routes will have to either go get their mail at the post office or pay a high fee for having it delivered to their house by a private much more costly delivery service.

Do you think that enough people would be willing to pay to cause the bulk mail to stop being sent? I can't even imagine 5% of the country being willing to spend a couple bucks a month to avoid such a minor hassle (me being one of those idiots). And I fully expect that they would in turn be able to find a way around whatever parameters are set up by the USPS even if it meant just taking the effort to get some names from the latest census reports to attach to the mailing address instead of 'resident' which would completely get around my idea. At least they would have done some work for the ability to send me that junk.

Or, I wonder if I can just set up a forwarding address for anything that is addressed to 'resident' and have it sent to the Pre-sort office that is less than a mile from me.

And just so you know, my brain is currently fried thanks to work (trying to do two jobs, one of which is high pressure and I'm not properly trained for) so anything making sense is not one of my strengths right now. I've just started typing and talking without thinking if it isn't related to getting the sales reps their bonus checks on time. The other day I couldn't remember the name of the lady who sits right across from me. I've known her for 16 years. We used to carpool together. Then yesterday I started doing the Wednesday reports for my normal job. Once I get through this run things will get better since I have now learned things that will make a HUGE difference when I got through this again in Q4 (we won't have a replacement in and trained fully by then). If only I knew in early September what I know now, I would be on vacation right now. I've taken 7 days off this year. Still have 13 left to burn and I'm pretty much only going to be allowed to take them in November/late December. Sucks.

I have definitely come to appreciate big butts as I've aged. As long as they are not sloppy.
