My wife works at a community college, and we often have lunch with a professor from her school, so I hear a lot of the same thing from them.

And you're right, it's one thing for someone to be stupid, but when they're stupid and think they do know something ......

I feel like education these days is just a given. If you bother showing up they are going to give you the degree. It's sad and I really feel for the educators. You couldn't pay me enough to put up with all the young ignorant ass [expletive] of the world.

That's certainly the case in graduate school (at least in my field). Schools want to be able to advertise high graduation rates, so with some of my classes you really had to try to fail (C or lower) or just never show up. It makes me wonder a little bit about the state of quality of some fields that require graduate level training.

Fortunately in my field there's continuing education requirements, but I wonder about others.

And the rest of the time, put on puppet shows. Have Leibniz the Lamb bleat out, "You're baa-baa-brilliant!" and Kant the Kangaroo sproing over the Sublime Caverns and Plato the Pig and Aristotle the Aardvark fight like Tom and Jerry.

Yes this is the state of higher education for those of us in the provinces and it really is frustrating when it is apparent that widgets are more important than being educated.

I am with you Cpebbles, sign me up for the Sighyoung course. I would expect lots of great images of Victorian dandies making snide comments.

Should I mention that I have used puppets before? I do a mean battle rap using Kierkegaard Nietzsche puppets.

Yea, I'm sure there are plenty of students that are stupid, but one thing I'm finding in the real world is that people from older generations aren't much better.
