I love this move..It's going to be interesting to see who is off the rotation..Gotta be Ponson/Suppan..Maybe Marquis?

Reyes deserves to be here no doubt.

Mulder
Weaver
Marquis/Wainwright

I don't want to think about it either, but those HRs that Reyes gave up did come off the high fastball (IIRC). The very same high fastball that TLR asked Reyes to work on getting away from down in the minors....

Just throwing it out there as a possibility - maybe a 5% chance at this point.

If Marquis can string together a few more "good" starts, I have the feeling he'll be traded for a LF bat.

I've always disliked him but now I have to like him.

I always thought he was overrated.

But now our pitchers are terrible.

So, what are we looking at here???

ITEM: Weaver is not, and never has been, a ground-ball oriented pitcher. It will be particularly interesting to see how our outfield "defense" affects him.

ITEM: Weaver has been pretty bad across the board this year, but the biggest reason for his results: he's allowed 18 homers in less than 90 IP. I have not seen him pitch mutch this year, so I'm not sure if there is a fluke component to that, or if he has simply really been that hittable.

ITEM: Weaver has given up a BABIP of .338 this year, and he has managed to strand only 62% of his runners. Both of those things suggest a significant degree of bad luck. In that regard, sight-unseen he appears to be a legit candidate for a turnaround even if he keeps throwing about the same now as he has been all year. Moreso if he actually pitches better too.

ITEM: Lots of people attribute the derailing of a promising career to character, attitude, tough NY fans, etc. I attribute it to --

I think its a worthwhile move. Didn't give up much. The guy has to be dying for a turnaround. He just got booted to make room for his little brother. That would be a huge motivator for me, just sheer pride
