Domenico Modugno from Italy became famous internationally when he wrote and recorded Ni Blu Dipinto di Blu (Volare), but this song is my favorite by him, "Vecchio Frack". It's about an aging elegantly dressed man walking along the banks of the Seine in Paris late at night, lamenting the lost glory of his youth as he contemplates throwing himself in the river to end it all.
