Manuel Flips Out On Eskin
Leah Zerbe, Staff Writer
People won’t be spending too much time talking about what happened during the Phillies 8-1 Tuesday night loss to the Mets this morning, but what happened afterward, well, that’s a different story.
During a routine press conference, WIP’s Howard Eskin hinted that manager Charlie Manuel might be a little soft on the Phils.
Manuel, notoriously low-key, took the opportunity to show a different side, and NBC 10 caught it all on tape.
“Why don’t you drop by my office then?” he asked Eskin in front of reporters at the press conference. “Come in there. I’ll be waiting on you.”
And he didn’t let up.

“Why don’t you come on in there?” Manuel continued. “I’ll walk down there right now.”
And he did, with Eskin not far behind.
A loud, verbal fight ensued, with Manuel screaming that the team wants to win, and Eskin retorting that he hopes they do.
Manuel peppered the radio host with curse words throughout the confrontation, which did not end in his office.
Shortly afterward, another altercation broke out in the Phillies’ locker room, where Manuel yelled, “I’ve been growed up. I grew up a long f**king time ago. What’s it to you, anyway?”
Locker room staffers ushered an agitated Manuel out of the room.
Prior to the fireworks, the Phils gave up another loss at home after being rained out two games on Sunday and Monday.
Pitcher Freddy Garcia gave up two homers in his pitching debut with the Phils.

The Phils just lost again in the 13th. Now 3-10.

Believe you me, I love any misfortune that happens to come to the Philadelphia fans, but good lord. Manuel has to be fired already. That's the only reason I could see this happening.stlmark wrote:And I love it.Cronos69 wrote:WHAT????
I think Manuel must already be fired. That's the only conceivable reason he would make this move, to get back at the front office or the players or the fans or something.
Total meltdown in Philly.
Something is rotten in the state of Pennsylvania. I don't understand what's going on there, truly.

I so agree! I don't think Manueal will last past April to be honest. Many people are calling for his head here.Cronos69 wrote:Believe you me, I love any misfortune that happens to come to the Philadelphia fans, but good lord. Manuel has to be fired already. All sports, all walks of life are full of guys who have some dark spots. If Brett Meyers beats his wife, or Doc Gooden does crack or NBA players are higher then a kite, I dont care. I care about what goes on during the game. PERIOD. If Meyers was on the block and could help (which he could) then by all means, you have to check on his availibilty.
