What bothers me most about the performance last night(and most likely again today) is that the team saw these pitchers not even a week ago, and had a worse performance. You would think that they would have at least the same or a little better handle of a pitcher simply by seeing the same pitcher so recently, but they did worse. Was Snell really that much better last night then a week ago? Not that I could tell from section 347. *shrugs*

I don't expect Gorzelanny to have much trouble today either. Hope I'm wrong.

My point is it's just easier to give the lefties a day off against a lefty because you see less of them and it's usually harder for a lefty to get comfortable against LH pitching then it is for RH to get comfortable against RH pitching (because you see them less)

Personally I have absolutly no problem with Duncan sitting today, I don't think it really has anything to do with him "not being able to hit lefties" but that he's lookng to get Taguchi a start, and a lefty is on the mound..so there ya go...

It helps that Duncan has been a pretty darned good pinch hitter so far. But yes, I'd like to see him starting today.

Well stated and I buy into most of what you're saying. There does seem to be more lefty starters in the NL Central than elsewhere though and I hate to bench our most valuable bat when we face them that frequently. Edmonds wouldn't have sat against lefties in '04 or even '05.

I can actually understand the Duncan sitting thing - a night game followed by a day game, that's usually when you rest someone. But honestly, this team (this offense) can't afford to rest Duncan right now.

Miles starting against a lefty again, but there's no platoon.

I'm stuck with Shannon, so I have no idea what's happening in this game.
