Doctor who reported coronavirus at the beginning and was later detained for doing so died.

Not to speculate, but I’ll guess he death wasn’t solely a case of the coronavirus or accidental.

In a Thursday press conference, China said it confirmed 15,152 new cases and 254 additional deaths. Those figures include the ones reported earlier by Hubei province under its new diagnosis methodology. (See 7:55 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. updates).

That brings the country’s total death toll to 1,367 as the number of people infected hit 59,804, according to the government.

A spokeswoman for the Shanghai Health Commission said at a press conference that the methodology for diagnosing coronavirus has not been changed in any Chinese provinces or municipalities except for Hubei.

Looks like we've got a pandemic on our hands. At least it's not the Plague or anything. 1918 was bad because it took the young. This one doesn't seem to be doing that.

It'll cull the old and infirm a bit and be a hassle for the rest of us. Bring it.

Yeah, it's serious
While aggressive measures such as travel restrictions and the first federal quarantine in a half century have probably slowed the arrival of the coronavirus in the U.S., Messonnier said even more intrusive steps will likely be needed.

"We are asking the American public to work with us to prepare with the expectation that this could be bad," Messonnier said.

"I had a conversation with my family over breakfast this morning. And I told my children that while I didn't think that they were at risk right now, we, as a family, need to be preparing for significant disruption of our lives," she said.

Those measures could include school closings, workplace shutdowns and canceling large gatherings and public events, she warned.

"I understand this whole situation may seem overwhelming and that disruption to everyday life may be severe, but these are things that people need to start thinking about now," Messonnier said.

And we have the most inept administration in this countries history in charge. This will go great. Thank god my freezer is full of cow, and we have everything we need to provide our own food. We may just not have to leave the farm for a while if it gets bad.
