The covered version doesn't have to be official. Far from it. Feel free to record a video of yourself on your iPhone covering "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" and submit that.

I only ask that the song being covered have had an official commercial release/recording.

If this becomes another debate over what type of music people should like and why they are wrong if they don't agree, I'll rage quit.
