They definitely played better then they did a few days ago against the Blackhawks.

The blues were gassed at the end of the 3rd period. It's obvious the teams didn't have much time to prepare. I've seen more energy in 3OT than the 3rd period last night.

But escaping that end without Colorado scoring would have been lucky. The Avalanche outplayed the Blues and had more energy at the end. It may have been close, but the blues earned that loss.

You're not wrong about being out of gas. But the last minute scramble that doomed the blues was exacerbated by being short-handed thanks to a suck-a$$ call by the refs. They called several suck-a$$ calls against us. Playing significant time short-handed certainly contributed to the key PK guys being gassed in that last PK situation.

I caught the last ~10 minutes of the 3rd. I kinda wish I hadn't.

They don't look very good. I was thinking that this format after this long of layoff would not play to the Blues' strengths. Last year's playoff run was built upon a disciplined, grinding, physical style of play. I don't think they are ready to win at a playoff level in that regard with all of the rust they are currently showing.

But who knows. Maybe they'll be ready when the games start really counting next week.

Yeah, I saw last nights game. The structure of Berube's system just isn't up to where it needs to be. I don't know if it's rust, conditioning, or what. But they don't look the same yet.

That’s concerning. I keep hearing about being gassed and needing time... but the other teams should have the same excuses, no?

I guess we’ll see on Sunday and next week.
