I know that I'm certainly not perfect, don't really hold any sway around here, I make dumb jokes, and am probably looked down upon by most at GRB...I'm just trying to keep it simple these days...I'm not an expert and don't claim to be, but your last few posts in this thread have tripped a nerve.33anda3rd wrote:The voice of the people.Secret Weapon wrote:Right on cue from deadspin today

Their Truth: Were you aware that fancy Bulleit Rye you're drinking is part of a larger corporate collective? It's not even MADE in Bulleit. And that microbrew you keep in the fridge is owned by InBev. That's right. The only thing I can taste here is your subservience to branding. Why just burn the word SUCKER into your tongue?
Righteousness Rating: Eight turds in the punchbowl.

Armed? No. Now's your chance to shoot them.
Typical Comment Section Argument: "For a real independent bourbon, try Pappy Ron Mullenrunner's Virgin Corn Spirits. Only three bottles were made and I have two of them. Not for sale."
Chances They Are Right: Oh, 100 percent. Seriously though, [expletive] these people. Let me enjoy my mass-produced phony-baloney niche alcohol in peace. I was happy with my drink before you came along and ruined it.
In other news, Templeton has a lawsuit going against them. Why? Because they brand themselves pre-Prohibition rye from the original recipe of whatever. But they're LDI, a corporate distillate, that Templeton puts in barrels and ages and then markets and slaps a fancy label on the bottle claiming something it's not.
Because it's BULL [expletive]. It's not pre-Prohibition anything, it's just fancy marketing. Like Bulleit.Though largely a formality, it is an acknowledgment that Templeton Rye could be found liable for violating Iowa law if allegations of consumer fraud and misleading advertising are found to be true, Brauch said.
Taken at face value, the claims against the rye whiskey producer appear "not even remotely close to frivolous," he said. "In looking at the claims, they appeared to me to be ones that had validity, and in fact, strong validity."
You can amen all you want, people hating on me in this thread, you're wrong. Dead wrong. This is like if Bud made one of their awful corn and rice infused, low-malt, virtually no-hop beers and sold it to someone who put a fancy label on it and called it "craft beer." It's still big corporate beer. These products are marketing devices that if you're defending them you need to wake up. You can like the taste, and like the product, fine, whatever, I don't care. Spend your money however you want to spend your money and if you like Bulleit god bless. But you can't act all holier-than-thou over the principle behind the thing, or get all up in arms when people point this stuff out, which at its core is marketing that's full of deceit perpetrated on you as a consumer.
G'night.
I think there only person acting holier-than-thou in this thread is you...trying to prove you're elite only shows that you aren't. I actually feel sad because we share similar interests, and you provide good information...but how you present it is caustic, you're attitude sucks, and you come off like a prick. Maybe that's an artifact of GRB and how long time users treat certain members (it can be cliquish), but it seems to be a constant theme with your posts. A little tact would go a long way, and ignoring the trolls would be an added skill to acquire as well.
Bulleit is a great entry level bourbon whiskey. It's still distilled in Lawrenceburg, KY at the Four Roses Distillery. Now the Bulleit Rye is done in Lawrenceburg, IN (which I chuckle at similar names, either by dumb luck or deception)...and I've had it, and it's fine. I prefer their 10yr bourbon whiskey if I'm going to drink Bulleit. But Bulleit is one of the 20+ bourbons/whiskeys that I like to drink. It's usually my "go-to" bourbon because it's starting to be found more easily at normal bars in STL (unless I go to a whiskey/bourbon bar or a more upscale drinking establishment) and I like it better than Jack or Beam.
This thread was a great place to discuss bourbons/whiskeys/ryes...to give/take recommendations for bourbons/drinks I need to try...but like all threads, it quickly gets derailed and people feel the need to prove they have a small dick in front of everyone else. Either offer information or don't, but spare me the [expletive] drama queen BS...you're better than that.
