When Barry Alvarez came to Wisconsin they were 1-10, 5-6, 5-6 his first three years. I think Bielema is on the right track for what he does, but he is an airhead about blowing winnable games. Arkansas will be a better program next year.

On July 13, 2006, Petrino signed a 10-year, $25.6 million contract to stay on as head football coach. The deal gave Petrino a raise from $1 million to $1.6 million annually, and he would have been paid $2.6 million in the final year of the deal. The contract included a buyout clause of $1 million.[8]

On January 7, 2007, it was announced Petrino had accepted the head coaching position for the NFL's Atlanta Falcons.[9]...

The Falcons brought Petrino to Atlanta by signing him to a five-year, $24 million contract.[10]....

On December 10, 2007, with the Falcons languishing in the NFC South cellar with a 3-10 record, Petrino resigned to take the job at Arkansas....

Petrino's contract with Arkansas was valued at $2.85 million per year for five years.....

Also, take this as internet fodders if you wish, but Petrino didn't wreck his motorcycle. Dorrell's BF got them to pull over, and he then beat the [expletive] out of Petrino, pushed his bike down a hill, and drove off leaving Dorrell and Petrino on the side of the road without a vehicle.

I'm shocked Nebraska actually axed Pelini. Can't wait for Husker tears over who they hire.

Kind of an odd hire on both ends to me.

Pretty shocking to everyone on both ends I think. He's the nicest guy ever. It was pretty funny when he was at OSU and Chip was at UO, because one was humble and sweet and the other was surly and arrogant (though anyone would take him for their team, and should).

After he failed in the NFL and came back to the Beavs, Riley has often said this was his last stop. But he probably just got tired of getting nothing from the athletic department. Radio guys said he was the second lowest paid coach in the nation at this level. Oregon State has the Pac-12's worst facilities. He can't offer his assistants any money. I can understand why Nebraska fans wouldn't be too excited, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he's really successful there. At least they'd be losing with a nice guy.

I also think this might be a good chance for OSU to do some soul-searching. It's by far the superior school in this state (that's a little unfair as UO is more of a lib arts school, but it's still true) by the only measurements that matter (hint: they aren't football). But having a strong football program could probably be helpful there too.
