Re: Getting into shape
That's basically why I quit playing. Two years ago I played one or two nights a week, then I hurt my ankle pretty bad. Fortunately just a bad sprain but I had to stay off of it for a week and had trouble getting into a tractor for a month after that. Can't really afford to not be able to work. I bought some nice ankle braces but hasn't played again till last night.
It was fun and I'm going to try to get back into playing. There were people from 40-18 playing and you really forget how much quickness youve lost till your playing against 18 yr olds. Shooting for teams is also a mess first game we ended up with no scorers on the team, those quick moves aren't nearly as quick but I knocked down enough shots to keep us close. It really sucks when your mind still thinks you can do things your body can't.

Re: Getting into shape
Well so much for my workout routine. Damn elliptical broke last night. I heard a pop right as I was done and the gear that drives the flywheel broke.
Good thing I kept all those big clothes.

Re: Getting into shape
We've been going to play basketball or lift at lunch the past couple months after an LA Fitness opened up near our office. 1. The gym is awesome and a great deal. has racquetball and basketball courts along with a ton of weights, machines and cardio equipment all for a reasonable $30/month. 2. There are apparently a ton of old University of Arkansas athletes and/or current pros in the area that go in during the day. Saw a current NFLer the other day who was in and we tried to get him to play ball with us. He said he couldn't but shot the [expletive] for a while. Started talking about old games both good/bad and gave some awesome insight into them. Pretty awesome.
Got to guard a guy who played for the 94 championship basketball team and it was awesome. You could tell he knew he overmatched me, quite handidly and I was just trying to not hurt him but not let him score all their points and it was AWESOME.

$30/month is a hell of deal.

++ Having a gym with all the amenities really makes it easy to go. Plus, they have two locations for now, one within a mile of my house and one within half a mile of the office. Really, really convenient.JackofDiamonds wrote:

Re: Getting into shape
There was a Planet Fitness near my old office, and for $20/month the gym had everything I needed, but the locker rooms sucked and I could never really feel clean enough to put a suit on afterwards.
Switched to an Equinox, paid way too much a month, but felt refreshed and ready for work after getting ready. That was a big enough difference for me.
Moved to CT and started at a Cross Fit style gym, spend more than I spent at Equinox and Planet Fitness combined, and there's no locker room at all. Then again, I don't have to go to an office afterwards, so it hasn't been an issue.

Do you use a Walkman... hopefully, one of those bright yellow ones? High tops, leg warmers, and short shorts?Jocephus wrote:i go for walks
