I think that's a reasonable way of looking at it, haltz.
Most reasonable people would. Unfortunately, a lot of American's aren't reasonable. They want handouts. It's tough because all people should have basic rights and privileges. But at the same time, these are the people that make true Socialism too difficult to attain. Their laziness and poor attitude bring down the rest. It just seems to me Obama is playing to these people too much. He's offering them hope without answers. There is no answer to this problem. I think people will realize that in 8 years.

I wouldn't characterize Obama's message in that way at all. In fact, I wouldn't characterize true socialism in that way, and America is about as far away from socialism as any government on the planet.robbotis wrote:Most reasonable people would. No one has the answer. Some people are inherently bad and some are inherently lazy. Just like some are innately great speakers and others are heroic.Socnorb11 wrote:How do you know he doesn't have answers, and what makes you think he condones laziness and poor attitude?robbotis wrote:Socnorb11 wrote:haltz wrote:I would think that most reasonable people place whatever hope that have for a president in that context. Everyone won't ever be equal or have all the same things. It won't happen. It's the flaw of Marxism/Socialism; people aren't perfect though an ideology could be.

Of course you can. Murdering an innocent unborn baby is completely different that killing a homicidal maniac who made the choice to murder.TimeForGuinness wrote:This made my head explode...you can't be both people! She's pro-life, pro-capital punishment...

I have hope: hope that the government will actually respond when there is a natural disaster in one of the most populus areas or our country.
I hope that by living in a free country we are free from unwarranted spying from our own gov.
I hope to live my life with freedom of and from religion, not have the POTUS' religion shoved down my throat.
Am I lazy because I hope that the next POTUS does their job, and that job is to "PROTECT THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES!" It's not to fight a war on terror, declare a state-sponsored religion, or to tell it's people what is and is not moral.

Oh boy. Here we go.
Everyone that is up for capital punishment is obviously a homicidal maniac, for one thing. And they are definitely guilty, of course. And "murdering" innocent babies isn't an inflammatory way to talk about abortion at all.
