Welp. Guess I’m seeing The Rolling Stones tonight. Tickets dropped to the right amount, so [expletive] it, why not?

Best I can say is I saw The Rolling Stones.

Sturgill Simpson dropped a new album a week ago under the name Johnny Blue Skies. In typical Sturgill fashions it's not like much else he's done. I don't know if I like it yet but a couple songs are growing on me.

Any walkers or wheel chairs on stage? I'm sure there were plenty in the audience.
Jagger’s still got it. Richards is on his deathbed. They didn’t even have him in the sound mix save for maybe 3 songs. The venue at Thunder Ridge is pretty unbeatable. I was most impressed with the opener, Samantha Fish. She absolutely killed.
I got the VIP tickets to see Allie X in Chicago last month, and it was a great time. Y'all may recall I'm into all the vintage audio stuff. During the pandemic I made a reel to reel tape with like 3.5 hours of unreleased and live music by her. I made a cover for the tape and everything. She's not the only artist I've done this with, but she is the only one who I got to meet and show it to them. I had her sign it and she was blown away by it. She got her phone out and took pictures of it and posted it to social media. I was pretty blown away by her reaction. The concert was also great.
Here is one of the best songs she's ever made IMO. The live version was changed up a bit and was even better...but the audio quality on the cell phone videos is not great. Listen to the album version first, and if you liked that check out the live one.
Next month I have VIP tickets to see Magdalena Bay at the same exact venue as this show. I'm hoping to do a similar thing with them. We'll see how they react if I get a moment to meet them.

I have Billy Joel tix. Forgive me, I was drunk when I bough them. I told myself at the turn of the year that I really needed to see more live shows, and this is the result of seeing a FB ad while drinking. Sting is there, too. So like $400 for a show I'm just mildly interested in. [expletive].
In other news, anyone heard this? I'm wild about Fiona, and like I&W quite a bit. I'd expect so much more from a collab of these two. Meh.

I saw I&W in June. I love artists that keep their songs alive by constantly tweaking them. His bassist added a killer upright line to Call It Dreaming, for example. The new album is ok. That song feels like something they put together day of or something.
I really, really struggle with people’s phones at shows. Why not experience a moment? I probably shouldnt have screamed ‘Buddha said “be here now”, mother [expletive] er’ at that doofus. But actually i didnt anyhow. Should have. I’d rather the worst singer in the world that knew every word was right at my shoulder than 12 people in front of me taking video. Which is just standard now.

Getting out is hard enough. I've also lost all my show friends to babies and moves and Trump (some of them are still a good hang, to be fair).
But the phones. [expletive] your phone. Put it up, snap a picture. Put it away. At most.

I went to Minneapolis to watch the punk band X on their final tour.
Great show!
The guitarist, Billy Zoom, is now 72. Instead of standing and grinning, he's sitting and smirking.
