Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin: The Thread
I just wanted to insure we keep this thread to the usual high standards of GRB so I'll mention that there are some very nice pics of VP Candidate Palin from a few years back out there.

The most important topic neither side is mentioning is: which one of them can dunk the basketball?

Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin: The Thread
Sorry, but I agree with robbotis. A lot of what he says sounds like pie in the sky to me. Just my opinion. That's not to say he doesn't have some substance in there as well, but the whole unity, hope, change message that seems to inspire so many on the left has always sounded like well staged rhetoric to me.Did you watch Obama's speech last week?
We may not agree on abortion, but surely we can agree on reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies in this country. The reality of gun ownership may be different for hunters in rural Ohio than for those plagued by gang-violence in Cleveland, but don't tell me we can't uphold the Second Amendment while keeping AK-47s out of the hands of criminals. I know there are differences on same-sex marriage, but surely we can agree that our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters deserve to visit the person they love in the hospital and to live lives free of discrimination. Passions fly on immigration, but I don't know anyone who benefits when a mother is separated from her infant child or an employer undercuts American wages by hiring illegal workers. This too is part of America's promise - the promise of a democracy where we can find the strength and grace to bridge divides and unite in common effort.
What I think you'll hear from McCain tonight (at least I hope) is a more detailed approach to how we're going to fix key problems facing us today, including energy independence. Now, I'm not suggesting that Obama doesn't doesn't have his plans as well. Rather, I'm saying that what you've seen from the RNC so far has been important. They have to break down Obama and paint him and his party in a negative light, otherwise he'll out swoon voters to win election, regardless of issues. McCain, though, can rise above some of that to the real meat of his agenda. He'll get his jabs in, but he'll mostly set out to establish the essentials of the republican platform.

I did. I didn't get any message of unity out of it.Socnorb11 wrote:Did you watch Obama's speech last week?robbotis wrote:

I was, am, and always have remained calm. So, I gave my opinion, you dissagreed, and then had to tell me to "calm down" ? Ok.JL21 wrote:Step 1. I just hope we have a fair election with record turn out, so that whoever wins and whoever loses knows what the people of America really want.JL21 wrote:Watching Sarah Palin last night was like watching a dog play the piano.

Some may be. If you don't get any message of unity from Obama, it's because you don't want to, in my opinion. And that's fine. There are enough people out there who are tired of mud-slinging and ready for a message of hope. Not all, but enough for Obama to win the election while staying on the high road, in my opinion.

I guess the non-photoshops either don't exist or won't be coming out until closer to the election.

Most all the pics you're talking about are fakes. I've seen several already. Yours has the head from this pic pasted on it:lukethedrifter wrote:haltz wrote:That's actually Julia Louis-Dreyfus, unless you've seen something I haven't.. in which case a PM is in order.lukethedrifter wrote:I just wanted to insure we keep this thread to the usual high standards of GRB so I'll mention that there are some very nice pics of VP Candidate Palin from a few years back out there.
