arcade fire is playing exactly 1 north american show for their 20th anniversary of Funeral and i just secured my tickets. I am so damn stoked. feels like i'm holding a lotter ticket.
I've seen a lot of great shows but the most affecting thing I've ever seen live was Arcade Fire in 2005 at the Chicago Theatre, particularly In The Backseat, when she starts in on the Alice dies part, I don't know, it's hard to articulate and recordings don't do it justice.
One of the best shows I've ever seen was Arcade Fire at a tiny Houston bar in 2004, right after Funeral came out. The (in)famous Pitchfork review giving the album at 10.0 had just come out, so the band was just getting propelled into fame, but would still only fill a 200 capacity room.
The Butler brothers are from the Houston area (a suburb called the Woodlands, which was the subject of most of their third album). At one point they called out their mom and dad from the stage, who were standing right next to me at the pool table. I chatted with them a bit, very nice folks.

Steve Albini was a god tier musical figure. I give the band most of the credit for this song, as would Albini himself, but the production and recording of this track is INSANE. The build to the wall of noise is wild. I have no idea how the drummer did not combust into flame by the end of this song.

The Rolling Stones are coming to my neck of the woods in July lol. Cheap tickets run 500 apiece.
I will listen to them on Spotify instead.

They were bad when I saw them in 98. I’m sure 30 more years of aging is what was missing.

So this guy popped up on my phone the other day. I've been digging it. Not sure I take the lyrics too seriously but it's got a nice vibe to it.

Should any of you wake up early on Wednesday morning and want to be gently woken by ambient (and adjacent genres) music, then you can tune in to me! On the radio!
I've been doing this since December and may have even mentioned it on here before, but I'm the Wednesday 5-7am guy on KDHX, 88.1 or kdhx.org. I couldn't find any ambient remixes of good baseball tunes, but I do start every show off with El-P's "Take You Out At The Ballgame".
