Re: The Video Game Thread
Since the wifey is moving to AZ and taking the Wii with her, I finally have justification to buy a new system. Which am I better off with? Xbox 360 or PS3? I'm thinking PS3 since she's also taking our Blu-Ray player, so I'd be okay because the PS3 supports Blu-Ray, correct? Or is it the Xbox 360 that supports Blu-Ray and the PS3 supports the now obsolete HD DVD? The PS3 has better overall games too, no? I played Halo 1 and 2 in college for Xbox - are they available for PS3 or are they still Xbox only?
I've not actually purchased a video game system since the Wii, and before that it was a Sega Genesis back in like 1991 or something. I did all my gaming on my PC, but after the wifey took control I'm afraid I've not done much gaming at all, except for on the Wii.

Not sure if you preordered or not, but that link Michael posted a page back lists the deals. I walked into BB, grabbed it off the shelf and they hand you a $20 gift card on the spot at checkout. I was afraid it might be online only but that's not the case.TGantz wrote:I'm buying Reach today. Add me as II Gantz on Xbox live.
My gf used to like playing the first 2 Halo's w/me and I'd use her as a scout/bait/sacrificial lamb, while I'd hang back like a [expletive]. I'm not a serious Halo player at all, so you'd do just fine.ghostruner wrote:Damn, this sounds fun. Unfortunately I'm terrible at these kinds of things. If you need someone to run out in front and get his head blown off, maybe I'll pick it up and join in.

So I have an xbox 360 elite. Is selling that for $200 and then spending $400 to get the halo reach bundle with a slim/2 controllers/reach worth it?

Yes, PS3 supports Blu-Ray.Swirls wrote:Since the wifey is moving to AZ and taking the Wii with her, I finally have justification to buy a new system. Which am I better off with? Xbox 360 or PS3? I am picking up our new PS3 tomorrow with the move stuff with it. Come with their Sports Champions game, will look at used games next week along with NHL, and FIFA in a few weeks. We are sports games mostly, so no halo whatever stuff for us...any titles I should look into besides Madden? and yes I will get the Show when the new one comes out...

and to swirls, imo, neither system has "better games" (ps3 vs xbox)...they both have many of the same and each system has a few exclusive titles...just depends on which exclusives you'd rather have

My slim is whisper quiet and looks damn sexy. If you have any interest in Kinect (which I do), it will be simplified for the slims, too.
I think it'd be worth it, but I'm a sucker for gadgets.

If the PS3 supports Blu-Ray, it's what I will go with. Plus I know I can get MLB.tv with it as well - is MLB.tv available on the Xbox 360 as well?

Re: The Video Game Thread
ps3 does Blu Ray. In fact, for me, that's all it really does.
I haven't tried MLB.tv on either. I've heard of people using it on ps3 with varying success. I haven't heard of people using it on 360.
