You would think so. Bruce Arena is out of contract. Attendance is down. Ratings are down. The team is a [expletive] show despite fielding as much talent as they've ever had.go birds wrote:thats gotta be klinsman's knell huh

Klinsman should have been axed in July 2015 when we lost to Jamaica in the Gold Cup Semi. This team has failed to show much of anything for a long time.

Didn't see last night's game, so I really can't speak in an informed way about it. That said, that squad can't lose 4-0 to Costa Rica, no matter where we are playing them.thrill wrote:You would think so. Bruce Arena is out of contract. Attendance is down. Ratings are down. I did see the Mexico game last week and the first 20 minutes looked like a plane crashing into a train in the middle of a traffic jam. Just horrendous. And it was all coaching. Mexico abused that crazy 3-5-2 alignment and all we could do was send the ball over the top. Bradley and Jones had to come over and convince Klinnsman to go back to a 4-4-2 and then we were fine. But, we still lost. At home. To our rival. Because of coaching.
After the lose to Jamaica, the first 20 minutes of Mexico, and now this, I'm absolutely ready for him to be done. We're in real danger of missing the WC and we have the talent to be an upper end contender in the WC. Certainly enough talent to win CONCACAF.

Am I late? Yes, I am. Klinsman has to go. What's strange is that he'll catch on with a loaded club and be hailed as some kind of genius.

Re: General Soccer Thread
not the overall status, but Klinsmann gets credit for a few positives in his tenure, right?
My bro who follows this stuff, I can't remember exactly what he said - he thought Klinsman ID'ed some young talent that otherwise might not of. he was being kind, conversation was with a German friend.

Re: General Soccer Thread
Identified is probably the wrong word, but in that realm. A number of players have the choice to choose between a couple countries, e.g. they were born in Germany to American parents, or they were born abroad and immigrated to the US when they were young. Klinsmann did a good job of recruiting those players to play for the US, Jones, Green, Zelalem, Brooks, Johansson, Pulisic, F. Johnson, Gooch, probably others I'm forgetting. Another coach probably wouldn't have gone 0-fer(I don't want to oversell Jurgen's impact), but Klinsmann is charismatic and has cache in Europe from his playing days so that was a net positive. His problem was that he couldn't make much happen once they were all on the roster.
