I'll buy the Stiles thing, I liked that. But all the crap with RoboCop and Quinn seemed like old hat. Rita never bothered me though. There was just nothing new and exciting in the season really.
Then Deb ready to catch a career maker. Talking about how it's her job no matter what and letting them go. [expletive] that.
Gotta disagree, keeping Deb in the dark is the last major suspense/mystery in the series beyond everyone finding out. Remove it and the series will probably jump the shark. Here's how I'd do the next thrilling storyarc:
I'd rather have it that Deb and Dexter both start investigating the same person. Eventually Dexter gets to the point where he's about to perform the kill, but Deb has all the evidence she thinks she needs. She goes to collect the definite evidence and finds out its been destroyed (by dexter to cover his tracks but she doesn't know this) then she's confronted with the killer and she somehow kills him even though he's not really threatening her and she has no story to defend herself. Dexter arrives and he has to help her cover it up. She'd be even more of a mess than she already is and add a layer of layer of suspense for her being investigated as a killer, ala season 2 flipped. That'd be better than just her finding out. Deb finding out is like a one time thing you can't really do much with (shes shocked, torn for a few episodes then comes to terms with it) and you remove so much suspense.
Also Doakes was axed too soon IMO. They're bringing back a character like him thankfully for Season 6.

Remove it and the show would come to its obvious natural, satisfying conclusion and would prevent them from carrying on season after season re-hashing old storylines which make the show's writers look like colossal hacks. Too many show's writers/creators/whatever are too willing to sell out their quality for a few extra paychecks.
I haven't seen an episode in three seasons, but I don't think the writers of Dexter need to worry about looking like hacks. They are hacks. The cop dialogue reads like a Scooby Doo script. It's a neat premise for a show, but between the awful writing and the lousy performances from pretty much every actor on the show except Hall, I can't believe the show was so well-received.

This.
Best thing about Breaking Bad is they didn't keep making a game out of Skyler finding out. Not quite the same, but Don telling Betty about himself on Mad Men was one of the better moments, and it was better once they got it out of the way.

Who, the Mos Def charcter?
Great. Another story retread. Tough black cop hates Dexter. Next.
When will they bring back another Lila? At least she was hot.
I know I'll catch flack for this, but I just start watching Arrested Development. I've always wanted to see it when it was still in production, but came in a few seasons late and didn't want to start in the middle of the show.
So I've watched the first season on Netflix streaming...my God, I love this show.
Walt: So how close to him were you?
Jesse: Closer than you and I are right now.
Well played sirs. Well played.
What did the Cartel want? Walt or Hank? They seemed ok when Gus gave them ok for Hank and missed their shot, so did Gus nix that after they failed? But Gus also seemed to be negotiating to get out of business with them. $50M one time payment to be 'done', so he must be getting his supply from the Cartel and wants to cut and run.
I'm getting the feeling, especially with one season left, someone fairly major won't be making it through this season.

Gus dies by the end of the season. The cartel will be a palpable threat through next season, but the DEA gets him in the end. Walt gets off too easy if the cartel murders him.
