The O's worked Fornataro out on Wednesday and evidently liked what they saw. The 28-year-old held a 5.54 ERA at Triple-A with the Nationals last season.
Is Mitch Boggs far behind?

Pirates signed RHP Justin Masterson to a minor league contract.
Another reclamation project for Pirates pitching coach Ray Searage. Masterson registered an ugly 5.61 ERA in 18 appearances last season for the Red Sox and he had a 5.88 ERA between the Cardinals and Indians in 2014. He'll head to Triple-A Indianapolis initially.

FORMER CARDINAL STAT UPDATE:

Pete Kozma currently has a .000 BA being 0 for 14 in 5 games, at AAA Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees.

Jon Jay is hitting .270 with 5 RBI through 9 game for the Padres.

Brendan Ryan has only been in 1 game for the Syracuse Chiefs, he is 0 for 3 so far.

Allen Craig is 2 for 10 for the Pawtucket Red Sox, he's the example of why some young players should take the long term contract to buy out your arbritration years instead of waiting for free agency. Without this contract he signed he would probably be out of baseball right now.

This is like walking through the Bonneville Salt Flats, in the hopes of reclaiming a lost paper clip.

Heyward is off to his usual slow start. Just .216 with 1 extra base hit, granted he has 7 RBI's which is solid.
